Hydrant Flushing Announced For Findlay Tuesday

The Findlay Water Distribution Department announced where they will be flushing hydrants on Tuesday. The work will take place in the area of the Blanchard River south to East Hobart from South Main Street east to County Road 180.

Local Gas Prices Up Slightly

6/26/17 – 7:19 A.M.

We’re paying more at the pump as we start a new work week. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price around Findlay is $2.14 for a gallon of regular today. That’s up seven cents from last Monday. Prices are around nine cents lower than they were a month ago.

Drivers in Ottawa report paying $2.19 per gallon today. That’s up six cents from last week.

The statewide average is $2.16 per gallon, a five cent increase over the last seven days.

OVI Checkpoint In Findlay Nets Four Arrests

6/26/17 – 6:53 A.M.

An OVI checkpoint in Findlay over the weekend netted four arrests. The State Highway Patrol says officers stopped 629 cars on Main Street Saturday night. Officials only diverted seven for further investigation. Officers charged four drivers with OVI.

Investigators also arrested two people for possession of marijuana.

Arcadia Woman Injured In Weekend Crash

6/26/17 – 6:43 A.M.

A two car-crash injured an Arcadia woman Saturday night. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the crash happened just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 224 and Big Lick Township Road 254.

46-year-old Irfan Ahmed of South Rockwood, Michigan was driving east on U.S. 224 when he tried to pass cars slowing to turn left, and hit the back of a Jeep driven by 35-year-old Nicole Decker. Hanco Ambulance took Decker to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

BG Man Injured In Hancock County Motorcycle Crash

6/26/17 – 5:34 A.M.

A motorcycle crash injured a Bowling Green man Sunday afternoon. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the accident happened on State Route 37 just before 4:30 p.m.

Michael Palmer II was riding his Harley-Davidson northwest when he went off the right side of the road and into a ditch. Hanco Ambulance took Palmer to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Deputies cited Palmer for failure to control.

Berm Repairs Taking Place In Putnam County

6/26/17 – 5:29 A.M.

Road repairs continue in Putnam County this week. ODOT says crews are repairing berms in three areas. You’ll see lane restrictions on State Route 613 between Continental and the Paulding County line, State Route 613 between Leipsic and Hancock County, and State Route 109 between Ottawa and Route 613.

The Putnam County maintenance garage is doing the berm repair work.

Plenty Of Road Paving Projects Continue In Findlay And Hancock County

6/26/17 – 5:24 A.M.

There will be plenty of roadwork apart from the I-75 widening project both in and out of Findlay this week. ODOT says crews will resurface U.S. 224 from Broad to Main Street, State Route 12 from I-75 to Main Street, State Route 37 between Lincoln and Blanchard avenues, and State Route 568 between Main Street and Beech Avenue.

Crews are restricting traffic to one lane through the work zones. Route 12 remains closed during work hours between Western Avenue and Glessner Street in Findlay.

Crews are also repairing pavement on U.S. 224 from the Putnam County line to State Route 235, State Route 235 between County Road 86 north of Benton Ridge to McComb, and State Route 568 from Findlay to the Seneca County line.

Road Closures, Lane Shifts Set For I-75 Widening Project This Week

6/26/17 – 5:14 A.M.

We’ll see some new road closures and lane shifts related to the I-75 widening project in Findlay this week. ODOT is closing River Road and Howard Street underneath the I-75 bridge starting today. The closures will last around 90 days. ODOT plans to maintain traffic to homes and businesses in the area.

The agency also has a change in the traffic pattern on I-75 planned for this week. ODOT says crews will shift one lane of southbound traffic to the northbound side of the interstate by late this week. During the transition drivers who want to get to U.S. 224 and State Route 12 will follow a detour on northbound I-75. Once workers complete the shift, drivers who want to exit at U.S. 224 and Route 12 will use the far-right lane, while through traffic will use the lane shifted toward the northbound side.

ODOT expects the shift to last through the rest of the summer.

Learn To Dance With Two Weekly Classes In Findlay

06/26/17 – 5 A.M.

Wedding season is upon us and there’s a class in Findlay that will help you ditch your two left feet. Dance Instructor Ashley Donaldson said that her class will teach you modern jive.

She added that there are hundreds of moves and she will teach several a week.  Donaldson said that though you don’t have to attend every class, she recommends it. This is because the moves you learn can blend together.

The class is every Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Art League on Crawford Street. It only costs $8 to take part.

She will also be offering a ballroom dance class at the Elks Lodge starting July 11. That class will start at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and costs $12.
