Findlay Church Opening Free Laundry Facility

St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Findlay has created a laundry facility at their Annex at 214 West Sandusky Street where people can do their laundry for free.

Sue Freel says their big goal with the free laundry facility is to give parents and kids living in cars or tents and who can’t afford a laundromat a place to do their laundry for free.

Sue says the facility will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on Tuesday, April 2nd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All laundry supplies will be provided. Two loads per family.

She says they even created a room where kids can hang out while their parents do the laundry.

Local Woman Named ‘Community Service Hero’

(From Findlay City Schools)

Mrs. Sarah Palmer, community member, parent, advocate, and change-maker, was honored last night at the Ohio School Boards Association’s Northwest Region Spring Conference, where she was selected as a Community Service Hero for the countless hours she has poured into the Chamberlin Hill Land Lab.

Thanks to her guidance, wisdom, and perseverance, our CH students have an outdoor learning space to utilize, care for, and take pride in, and we have a model to follow that could make our dreams of a Land Lab at each FCS school a reality.

Findlay City Schools is lucky to have community members who believe in our district, and we are lucky to have Mrs. Palmer.

Date Of Total Solar Eclipse Approaching

Any other year, April, 8th would just be another day, but this year a total solar eclipse will be happening on that date.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon casts its shadow on the Earth as it passes between the Earth and the Sun.

Findlay is within the path of totality and will experience a total solar eclipse of an estimated 3 minutes and 44 seconds beginning at 3:10 p.m. on Monday, April 8th.

Officials say their preparation for the rare event has been about ensuring that it’s a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

The City of Findlay has designated Emory Adams Park, Swale Park, and The Cube as viewing locations.

People are encouraged to walk to the viewing sites if they are able, or just watch the eclipse from your own residence as traffic will likely be really bad that day as outsiders pour into the area to see the eclipse in full totality.

People are reminded to wear a pair of solar eclipse glasses during the event, except during the brief phase of totality when it will be safe to view it with the naked eye.

The Solar Eclipse Task Force, which is a collaboration of many local entities, has created a website with information about the eclipse.

And, Visit Findlay has a lot of great information on their website as well.
