Strategic Planning Consultant Accepting Plans From Orgs

The City of Findlay says its strategic planning consultant is accepting planning documents from community organizations as part of the city’s strategic planning process.

The city says if a community organization in Findlay or Hancock County has an official/adopted planning document, it can be submitted for review by the City’s Strategic Planning Consultant Team as part of the Findlay Forward Strategic Planning process.

The city says the consultant team will be reviewing plans as reference documents in order to better understand Findlay as a whole and any recent planning that has been undertaken within the community.

Submitted documents will be used by the consultant team for background understanding only.

There should be no expectation that any policies, recommendations or other elements of the submitted plans will be integrated into the new Findlay Forward Strategic Plan.

The consultant team will be creating new recommendations based upon current data and their own research as well as community input that will be gathered throughout the process.

Community organizations wanting to submit a plan for review should email it to cyrille@planning-next.com by Wednesday, May 25th at noon.

Governor ‘Disappointed’ In Ohio State For Raising Tuition

A move made by Ohio’s biggest university isn’t sitting well with the governor.

Governor DeWine is calling out Ohio State University for raising tuition for incoming freshmen, saying ‘this is not a wise decision.’

The Ohio State Board of Trustees voted to approve a 4.6 percent increase in tuition for new in-state students.

That amounts to a $549 increase from last year.

The university says the new rate will be locked in and rates won’t go up for these students while they are in school.

Additionally, tuition and fees for incoming non-resident students will increase by $1,703.

Ohio State says, since they converted from the quarter system to semesters in fiscal year 2013, tuition increases have been below inflation.

Food Bank Holding Food Distributions

The West Ohio Food Bank will be holding food distributions this weekend as inflation continues to affect families.

“Prices at the pump and at the grocery stores remain at all-time highs, and these are chances for those who are really suffering to get food,” said Jason Aldrich with the food bank.

He says they usually ask that people be at or below 200 percent of the poverty level to get food, but no one will be turned away (while supplies last) if you feel you and your family are truly in need.

The Hancock County event will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 2330 South Main Street in Findlay from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21st.

There will also be a food distribution event in Putnam County at St. John’s Mennonite Church in Pandora from 9 to 11 Saturday morning.

2 Findlay Students Get Perfect Score On ACT

Two Findlay High School students have achieved a perfect score on the ACT.

The school says Ethan Zheng, a senior, and Dominic Gonzalez, a junior, both earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.

High School Principal Ryan Imke congratulates the two students and says Findlay High School has a long history of student success on the ACT.

Fewer than half of 1-percent of students who take the ACT achieve the top score.

“Earning a top score on the ACT is a remarkable achievement,” siad ACT CEO Janet Godwin.

“A student’s exceptional score of 36 will provide any college or university with ample evidence of their readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead.”
