County Commissioners Approve Contract For Juvenile/Probate Court Design

Gazarek adds that the county has had good experiences with Garmann Miller before.

The contract is for 7.5 percent of the construction budget. The county will determine the construction budget during the first phase of the project.

Garner Trucking Trailers Honoring Military Members Earn Recognition

Findlay-based Garner Trucking’s salute to military members has earned the company an award. Industry magazine Commerical Carrier Journal gave Garner second place honors in its annual “Flashiest Fleets” competition. The publication has recognized truck fleets for the graphic designs on their trailers since 1978.

Fostoria Woman Injured In Monday Night Crash

11/27/18 – 8:24 A.M.

A one-car crash injured a Fostoria resident east of Findlay Monday night. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on Marion Township Road 243 north of U.S. 224 just after 8 p.m.

28-year-old Sequoia Hampton was driving north when she lost control of her car and slid off the left side of the road, hitting a utility pole.

Hanco EMS treated Hampton at the scene of the crash.

Two Arrested Following Weekend Drug Search

11/27/18 – 5:15 A.M.

A weekend drug search in Wyandot County led to two arrests. The Wyandot County Major Crimes Unit says they found heroin, meth, guns, and cash in a home at 309 1/2 East Seventh Street in Sycamore Sunday afternoon.

Melinda Lesher and Joshua Bailes are facing charges of drug possession and trafficking in drugs.

Officers took Lesher to the Seneca County jail because she had outstanding warrants against her there.

McComb Shows Support For Football Team

11/27/18 – 5:10 A.M.

McComb village council took time to recognize the efforts of the high school football team during their Monday meeting. Mayor Chuck Latta issued a proclamation that declared this week as Panther Pride week in the village. The proclamation urges residents to wear red and black to show their support for the team.

The Panthers will play the Glouster Trimble Tomcats on Saturday for the Division VII state football title.

Mount Blanchard Woman Seriously Injured In Monday Crash

11/27/18 – 5:02 A.M.

A two-car crash seriously injured a Mount Blanchard woman late Monday afternoon. The State Highway Patrol says the crash happened at the intersection of Hancock County roads 7 and 330 around 5:30 p.m.

61-year-old Timothy Kummerer of New Riegel was driving an SUV east on Road 7 when he ran a stop sign and hit a southbound car driven by 75-year-old Ruthann Bushong. Hanco EMS took Bushong to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Kummerer went to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Troopers cited Kummerer for failure to yield from a stop sign.

Findlay Man Facing Child Pornography Charges

11/27/18 – 4:55 A.M.

A Findlay man is facing charges stemming from a child pornography arrest. The Hancock County grand jury recently indicted 42-year-old Robert Sams on 15 counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor.

Hancock County Prosecutor Phil Riegle says Sams had “child pornography in the form of both videos and photos” on a device in his home. Riegle says Sams downloaded the material from the internet.

Coats For Christmas Drive Happening This Week

The annual Coats for Christmas drive is happening in Findlay this week. Paul Kramer of City Dry Cleaning explained that they won’t let any coats go to waste…

Kramer said they are looking for new or gently used coats, especially for children.

Kramer said that they will take all the coats and then clean them to give to someone in need.

You can drop coats off at various locations around Findlay including area schools and the Findlay Village Mall.

Film Starring Local Veteran Premieres Tomorrow

11/26/18 – 5:30 P.M.

A film starring a Findlay veteran and his service dog will get its debut at the University of Findlay tomorrow. “A New Leash on Life: The K9s for Warriors Story” follows Louis Belluomini and two others and tells how they got service dogs through the Florida-based K9’s for Warriors agency. It has been nominated for four Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards.

Belluomini is a full-time medic with the Putnam County Office of Public Safety and works part-time for Hanco EMS. His service dog, Star, rides with him and is believed to be the only service dog riding on an ambulance in the nation.

The free screening will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Winebrenner Theological Seminary’s TLB Auditorium. Belluomini will speak at 6:30 and plans to answer questions after the film.

You Can Help Bring Holiday Cheer To Area Seniors With The Santa For Seniors Program

50 North is getting into the holiday spirit with their annual Santa for Seniors program. The program allows you to buy gifts for Hancock County residents that are 50 years old or older and have been found financially eligible. You can stop at the Findlay Village Mall or at 50 North to take a gift tag off the trees at those locations. After you get the item on the tag, you just have to take it back to 50 North by December 4.
