A company from Vickery, Ohio submitted the apparent low bid for the Dalzell Ditch maintenance project. The Courier reports the Great Lakes Demolition bid a little more than $455,000 on the project. The only other bid came from Helms and Sons Excavating of Findlay. It came in at just over $492,000.
Both bids came in under the initial estimate of $584,000. The Hancock County Commissioners will review Great Lakes Demolition’s submission before awarding the contract.
The ditch on Findlay’s north side has caused its share of flooding problems. Officials have talked about a maintenance project for around 21 years.
Property owners near the ditch are paying for 82 percent of the cost. Findlay is chipping in 13 percent. Liberty Township will pay 4 percent of the price and money from the state will cover 1 percent of the cost.
