Weekend Fire Damages Home Near Vanlue

Fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home northeast of Value over the weekend. Vanlue firefighters responded to 130 State Route 568 around 5 p.m. Saturday. They were able to bring the flames under control in about 15 minutes.

Vanlue Fire Chief Mark Price says the blaze started in a detached garage and spread to the house. No one was injured and firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the basement of the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Emergency responders limited traffic on 568 to one lane while they battled the blaze.
