Fire destroyed a Fostoria duplex Monday afternoon. Firefighters responded to 523 East North Street around 2:50 p.m. They saw heavy smoke coming from the roof of the building when the arrived.
Fostoria Fire Chief Brian Herbert says neighbors saw a puff of smoke and heard windows shatter just before flames started coming out of the home. Both families living in the duplex got out before the fire department arrived. One person went to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The Red Cross is helping the people displaced by the fire.
Herbert says they don’t know what caused the blaze just yet. He adds it does not appear suspicious.
