Marathon Sells Five Convenience Stores As Part Of Deal With FTC

10/30/18 – 7:37 A.M.

Marathon Petroleum has agreed to divest five gas stations in New York to settle a federal antitrust suit. CSP Daily News reports the move stems from Speedway’s buyout of Express Mart stores from Petr-All Petroleum. Speedway is a Marathon Petroleum subsidiary.

The Federal Trade Commission said the buyout would hurt competitiveness for retail gasoline in five markets in New York.

Under the terms of the deal, Marathon will divest the convenience stores to Sunoco.
