Marathon Reports Second-Quarter Results

Marathon Petroleum reported its second-quarter numbers on Tuesday.

The company says its net income for Q2 was $5.9 billion, which compares with a net income of $8.5 billion for the second quarter of 2021.

The company’s adjusted earnings for the second quarter was $9.1 billion, compared with $2.2 billion for the second quarter of 2021.

President and CEO Michael Hennigan says they accomplished a lot in the second quarter.

“Our team delivered on supplying products to meet strong market demand. Utilizing the proceeds from the Speedway divestiture, we have completed approximately $12 billion of our $15 billion return of capital program,” Hennigan said.

“We also recently published our annual Sustainability and Climate reports, which highlight the progress we have made across our sustainability commitments.”

Children’s Mentoring Connection Holding Open House

Children’s Mentoring Connection of Hancock County will be holding an open house this week.

On Thursday, August 4, CMC will host a Lunch and Learn from 11 to 1 at the Downtown YMCA in Findlay and an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m.

Staff will be on hand to answer questions you may have about their programs.

Applications will be available.

CMC is currently accepting applications for volunteers from high school age students and older to be a part of the programs.

The Community Mentoring Program connects a child ages 6 to 14 with an adult mentor.

Together they meet two to three times a month to have fun, learn new things and explore opportunities and interests each child may have.

Mentoring is open to children living with single parents and grandparents primarily.

Children’s Mentoring Connection of Hancock County’s Summer Recruitment initiative has been underway.

Police Seeking Help IDing Gas Station Theft Suspects

The Findlay Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying some people accused of stealing from a gas station.

The police department says the individuals pictured above and below entered the Speedway at 3730 Speedway Drive on July 6th and stole a lot of lottery tickets and merchandise.

Anyone who has information about the case should contact police at 419-424-7150 or private message the police department’s Facebook page.

People with tips can also contact Crime Stoppers at 419-425-TIPS, and may be eligible for a reward.

 

Flag City Night Out Being Held This Week

The popular community event Flag City Night Out is coming up this week.

Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd at Riverside Park beginning at 6 p.m.

The free, family-friendly event is designed to bring community members and public safety professionals together in the same place.

Findlay Police Officer Brian White was on with WFIN’s Chris Oaks to discuss the event.

 

 

 

There will be free food and refreshments, live demonstrations, entertainment and other fun activities.

Also, kids will enjoy large assortment of emergency vehicles like fire trucks, ambulances and police cruisers.

Flag City Night Out will be held at Findlay’s Riverside Park near Carnahan Avenue on Tuesday, August 2nd from 6 to 9 p.m.

The weather is looking good for the event.

Browns QB Learns How Long He’ll Be Suspended

Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson is set to miss key games early on in the Browns’ schedule.

Watson was suspended six games by the league’s Disciplinary Officer for multiple cases of alleged sexual misconduct with massage therapists during appointments spanning from 2019 to 2021.

The Browns QB will miss the chance to play against one of the team’s rivals in Cleveland when the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town during week three.

Watson will also miss games against the Los Angeles Chargers and the New England Patriots before being able to return during week seven against the Baltimore Ravens.

He was traded to the Browns from the Houston Texans and was signed to a massive contract extension earlier this year.
