We stopped by the Kroger on Sixth Street in Findlay on Monday to see if people were stocking up on the essentials ahead of the snow storm.

The parking lot was packed and the store was definitely busier than usual for a Monday afternoon.

Some of the folks we spoke with said they were just doing their regular shopping but others said they wanted to beat the rush and get what they needed.

We spoke with Jennifer and Clayton, from Findlay, as they were leaving the store.

Forecasters say heavy snow is possible Wednesday night and all day Thursday, with accumulations in excess of 10 inches likely.

Wind gusts of up to 30 miles per hour will cause blowing and drifting snow, especially on Thursday and Thursday night.

Travel could be difficult to nearly impossible.

The Findlay Police Department says a driver ran a red light, causing a crash that sent two people to the hospital.

The crash happened a little before 2 p.m. Monday on West Trenton Avenue at the northbound Interstate 75 exit ramp.

Police say Antonio B. Hudson, of Findlay, was driving eastbound on West Trenton Avenue over the Interstate 75 overpass and disobeyed a red light and struck a car driven by Bernice Shepard, of Findlay, who was turning westbound onto West Trenton from the northbound exit ramp.

Shepard and a passenger were taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital with minor injuries.

Police issued Hudson a citation for running the red light and for driving without a license.

The American Red Cross is asking for blood donations as northwest Ohio prepares for a winter storm this week.

The Red Cross declared a national blood crisis three weeks ago.

Many blood drives across the country have been canceled this year due to the pandemic and winter weather issues.

Jim McIntyre, with the American Red Cross Northern Ohio Region, says this is the worst blood shortage in more than a decade.

Typically, the Red Cross aims to have at least a 5-day supply of all types of blood to meet the needs of patients.

However, in recent weeks they have had less than a day of critical types of blood.

The Red Cross is hoping to see an increase of blood donations early this week in case the storm causes blood drive cancellations.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northwest Ohio, including Findlay and Hancock County, ahead of what’s anticipated to be a major snow storm.

The Winter Storm Watch will be in effect from Wednesday morning through Friday morning.

A teenager died in a house fire in Fostoria over the weekend.

When firefighters arrived at the home at 736 Oaklawn Avenue on Saturday morning, they were told one person was unaccounted for.

Firefighters then found a 14-year-old girl in her bedroom.

They performed life-saving measures on the girl and she was taken to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it’s believed that the improper use of a heating appliance started the fire.

The Fostoria Fire Division reminds everyone that once you get out of a structure fire or any unsafe condition in your home or place of work, under no circumstances should you ever re-enter that structure.

The Cincinnati Bengals are headed to the Super Bowl after winning a thrilling AFC Championship game on Sunday.

The Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime on the road at Kansas City.

The Bengals were down by 18 points at one point in the game.

The Bengals will play the winner of the San Francisco 49ers – Los Angeles Rams game for the NFC title that was being played Sunday night.

Super Bowl 56 will be played in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13th.

This will be the Bengals’ first Super Bowl appearance since 1989.

The National Weather Service says a significant winter storm could impact the area in the middle of next week.

Forecasters on Saturday said, while there is a lot of uncertainty with the storm track, people should stay weather aware.

The NWS says forecast models are indicating the potential for a long-duration winter storm to impact the region from Tuesday night through Friday morning.

Forecasters say what track the storm ultimately takes will make a big difference in precipitation types and amounts and over what areas.

The warmer side of the track could get heavy rainfall and flooding, while the colder side could get heavy snow or a mix and some freezing rain.

As for Sunday’s weather for the Findlay area, forecasters say to expect cloudy skies to gradually become partly sunny and a high of 28.

Down to around 12 Sunday night and then sunny skies and a high of 30 for Monday.

The Findlay Police Department says two people were taken into custody after a short pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed.

Police say an officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for peeling its tires at Milton Street and Hull Avenue at 7:09 Friday night.

Police say the driver, later identified as Tayshaun Tucker, 18, of Tiffin, refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.

As the pursuit entered the 700 block of Carnahan Avenue, police say Tucker lost control of his vehicle and hit a sign and his vehicle came to rest in the roadway.

Police say Tucker fled on foot along with a male passenger and both were taken into custody.

Police say a loaded gun was found in the vehicle.

The police department says both individuals were released on recognizance bonds and further charges are being pursued.

Findlay and Hancock County are included in a Wind Chill Advisory issued by the National Weather Service.

The advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Forecasters say wind chills as low as -10 to -15 are possible.

The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Use caution while traveling. Wear appropriate clothing, including a heavy coat, a hat and gloves.

(ONN) – A star talent and member of one of Bowling Green’s most prominent musical families has died.

Alex DePue, an accomplished fiddler, was killed in a car crash in Mexico, according to a statement from his family on Facebook.

DePue, alongside his siblings, was part of the DePue Brothers Band and classically trained on violin from a young age.

At 14, DePue won the rights to play at Carnegie Hall.

The DePue brothers played together for decades, pioneering a unique style of music they called ‘grassical.’
