The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a Putnam County teenager died after crashing his car.

The crash happened on State Route 12 near County Road 7 at around 8 o’clock Tuesday morning.

The Highway Patrol says Jordan Vogt, 18, of Columbus Grove, was driving east on State Route 12 when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road and through a creek.

His car struck an embankment and began to roll, before striking some farm equipment and coming to rest.

Vogt was ejected from his car during the crash and suffered severe injuries.

He was taken to a hospital in Lima where he later died.

The Highway Patrol says Vogt was not wearing a seat belt and speed was a factor in the crash.

The Hancock County Farm Bureau and the United Way of Hancock County are inviting community members to learn more about agriculture and its impact in Hancock County by signing up to Ride with a Farmer.

Local farmers will take participants for a ride with them as they harvest between now and October 18th.

The United Way’s Heather Heilman says riders will learn first-hand about general farming practices, seasonal preparations, harvesting and what happens after harvest.

Rides will last from 30 minutes to one hour.

A $25 riding fee will be matched by the Hancock County Farm Bureau and donated to the United Way of Hancock County’s Halt Hunger Initiative.

Participants 18-years of age and older can fill out an application at http://liveunitedhancockcounty.org/form/ride-with-a-farmer-sign-up .

Once the application and the $25 fee has been submitted, the Hancock County Farm Bureau will connect you with a local farmer.

Because the farmer must work around weather conditions, they will contact you directly to determine the best day, time, and location of the ride.

The Hancock County METRICH Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in McComb.

Authorities say the warrant at 335 North Park Drive was based on several citizen complaints and a multi-week investigation into the residence.

The task force says a search of the residence yielded more than 200 grams of marijuana and numerous THC edibles and THC vape cartridges.

Also seized was cash, one handgun and numerous additional items indicative of drug trafficking, according to authorities.

No arrests were made at the time of the search warrant.

Authorities say charges of drug trafficking, drug possession, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and endangering children are pending the lab results.

The City of Findlay says the Income Tax Department is in the process of issuing several thousand delinquent filing notices to Findlay area taxpayers for potential past-due municipal income tax returns for years 2020 and prior.

Officials say individuals and businesses will want to respond to the notices promptly to avoid further delinquent notices, estimated tax liabilities, costly collection measures and higher penalty and
interest charges.

Payments and completed municipal income tax returns can be placed in the secure, drive-up drop box in the east curbed island of the Findlay Municipal Building’s West Crawford Street parking lot F, accessible about one-half block west of South Main Street.

An additional secure drop box is located in the vestibule of the Municipal Building’s Dorney Plaza entrance.

Payments and returns may also be mailed to the Findlay Income Tax Department at P.O. Box 862, Findlay, OH 45840.

For assistance, taxpayers can call 419-424-7133 or visit the Tax Department in room 115 on the first floor of the Municipal Building at 318 Dorney Plaza.

Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 to 5.

Hancock Public Health has a handful of flu clinics coming up.

The health agency will be offering five vaccination opportunities from September 30th through October 19th.

The first clinic is a drive-thru clinic that will be on Thursday, September 30th from 4 to 6 at the Marion Township House at 16003 State Route 568.

The Hancock County Veterans Service Office is holding a Yellow Ribbon Town Hall meeting.

Veterans, military families, employers and community members who want to support our Veterans are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Veterans will be able to share their thoughts and feelings about the war in Afghanistan ending and how to process the emotions they’re feeling.

The meeting will be held at the Old Millstream Centre at the Hancock County Fairgrounds at 7 o’clock Tuesday night.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says a driver was injured in a hit-skip crash in Arlington.

The crash happened at around 5 o’clock Monday morning on Main Street near East Fellowship Drive.

Investigators say Zak Bland, 24, of Arlington, was northbound on Main Street when a white semi tractor-trailer attempted to pass his pickup truck.

Bland slowed to make a left turn and was struck by the semi, which did not stop and continued northbound on U.S. 68.

Bland was transported by Appleseed EMS to The Blanchard Valley Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

He was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

The semi continued northbound on U.S. 68 and is suspected to have front-end damage, a missing headlight, passenger side skirt and step deck.

The Bowling Green State University football team got a huge win Saturday.

The Falcons traveled to Minnesota and defeated the Golden Gophers of the Big Ten by a score of 14-10.

BGSU says they’ll be soaring from that win for a while and they’ve planned a celebration for Monday.

From noon to 2 on Monday at the Union Oval there will be a big celebration with members of the football team, marching band and cheerleaders.

The Findlay Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying a woman who tried to steal some cigarettes from a gas station and got physical with the cashier when confronted.

It happened at the S&G gas station at 800 West Trenton Avenue at around 7:15 Saturday night.

Police say a woman attempted to steal cigarettes from behind the counter and was confronted by the cashier.

Police say a physical confrontation ensued and the suspect dropped the cigarettes and fled the scene in a red-colored SUV being driven by an unknown man.

Video surveillance, police say, shows the suspect stealing two beverages from a cooler before she tried to steal the smokes.

People lined the streets for the Findlay High School Homecoming Parade on Friday.

The Trojans community showed off their Trojan Pride and youngsters scrambled for candy that was tossed their way.

The Findlay Trojan Marching Band led off the parade and was followed by a variety of vehicles and floats.

The Homecoming Court rode in style, waving to people from the back seat of some sweet rides, as you can see in the video below.

And then the Trojans Football team took on Fremont Ross in the Homecoming Game at Donnell Stadium.
