Two Former OSU Football Players Accused Of Rape

(ONN) – Two former Ohio State football players were arraigned in Columbus on Thursday morning on charges of rape and kidnapping.

Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint, both 21, pleaded not guilty to allegations that they raped a 19-year old woman, who told police that the incident started consensually with one of the men before she decided not to continue.

Afterwards, the victim says Riep and Wint told her to say the sex was consensual on video.

Bond was set at $100,000 for Riep and $75,000 for Wint.

The two were dismissed from the football team on Wednesday coach Ryan Day.

Their cases will now go before a grand jury, which will weigh the evidence.

Browns, Bengals Fans Won’t Be Eligible For Medical Marijuana

Debate is underway on an expansion of Ohio’s medical marijuana program.

The State Medical Board of Ohio is considering three new conditions that would be added to those eligible for treatment with cannabis.

Anxiety, autism spectrum disorder and the chronic illness cachexia could be added to 21 other conditions this summer.

Being a Browns or Bengals fan didn’t make the cut however.

The State Medical Board of Ohio has ruled that Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals fans can’t legally use medical marijuana to treat the suffering caused by their teams.

Cleveland.com reports that a man from Cincinnati submitted a half-serious application to the medical board to allow medical marijuana for fans of Ohio’s two NFL teams.

Logistics Park Could Mean 1,000+ Jobs In North Baltimore

A development firm has plans to construct a large logistics park in North Baltimore.

Logistics Park Ohio would be located just across from the CSX Intermodal Terminals on State Route 18, Deshler Road.

“We’re very excited about the potential for this project,” said Wade Gottschalk, director of the Wood County Economic Development Commission.

“It’s a result of a lot of work and time put in over the years since the CSX Intermodal facility went in.”

He says NorthPoint Development’s vision is to put in multiple warehouse/distribution buildings that would utilize the CSX Intermodal facility.

He says the Wood County Commissioners approved a Community Reinvestment Area Program for NorthPoint Development across from CSX.

“We’re excited to see job growth and investment and I know the local school district is very excited as well,” Gottschalk added.

NorthPoint Development officials have said the project could bring thousands of jobs to the area.

New Ohio Bill Would Restrict Gender-Identity Medical Treatments

(ONN) – A new Ohio bill seeks to restrict gender-identity medical treatments for transgender youth by penalizing the doctors who prescribe them.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Republican Reps. Ron Hood of Ashville and Bill Dean of Xenia plan to introduce the Protect Vulnerable Children Act.

Under the bill, physicians could be charged with a third-degree felony for attempting therapeutic or surgical procedures intended to alter the gender of someone under the age of 18.

Parents could also file civil lawsuits against physicians for providing treatment.

A similar bill has been introduced in Kentucky and several other states.

Real Estate Tax Bills Due In Hancock County

The Hancock County treasurer is reminding taxpayers that real estate taxes for the first half of 2019 are due Friday, February 14th.

Treasurer J. Steve Welton says payments may be made at the Hancock County Treasurer’s Office from 8:30 to 4:30.

For those paying by check, there is a drop box inside the entrance to the courthouse.

Taxes may also be paid at several lending institutions.

Mailed payments must be postmarked by the due date to be accepted without penalty.

Welton points out that the Ohio Revised Code states that the taxpayer is responsible for any taxes due and failure to receive a tax bill does not avoid penalty and interest charges.
