Woman Injured In Rollover Crash In Putnam County

A person was trapped in their car after being involved in a rollover crash in Putnam County.

The crash happened at about 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the intersection of State Route 189 and Road 21 in Jennings Township.

The sheriff’s office says Colin R. Sickels, 25, was driving south on Road 21 when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and collided with a vehicle traveling east on State Route 189 being driven by Ronnette E. St. Pierre, 49.

The impact caused Ronnette’s car to roll and she was trapped in the wreckage.

Ronnette was extracted from the car by the Fort Jennings Fire Department and taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Sickels refused treatment at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

2 Ohio College Students Test Negative For Coronavirus

The Ohio Department of Health says the two students at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio recently tested for exposure to the coronavirus do not have the disease.

Officials reported that the test results on the two had come back from the Centers for Disease Control as negative for the virus.

Coronavirus is currently spreading across the globe from China and is suspected of having killed dozens of people.

Doctors say they believe the virus is not transmitted through the air and is instead spread by person to person contact through respiratory droplets from the nose or throat.

People Take Advantage Of Warm Temps To Begin February

Buckeye Chuck says it will be an early spring this year after emerging from his home Sunday in Marion.

Buckeye Chuck has been forecasting the weather every February 2nd for more than 40-years, joining fellow groundhog Punxsutawney Phil in nearby Pennsylvania.

Chuck’s handlers reported at 7:41 a.m. on Sunday morning that he did not see a shadow, which traditionally means an early arrival of spring-like temperatures.

Punxsutawney Phil also did not see his shadow, which, according to the legend, means an early spring and warmer temperatures are coming.

Warmer temperatures were definitely the case on Sunday when the high reached 57 in Findlay with sunny skies.

A lot of people could be seen out and about, walking their dogs, jogging and just enjoying the warm weather.

Riverbend Recreation Area was especially busy with people out enjoying the sun and warmth.

Monday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high of 57 before it cools down for the rest of the week.
