2 Injured In Hancock County Crash

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says two people were injured when their vehicle was rear-ended.

The crash happened at around 4:20 Wednesday afternoon at County Road 180 and State Route 568, just east of Findlay.

The sheriff’s office says Tony Crowe, 57, of Dunkirk, was stopped at the light northbound on County Road 180 at State Route 568 when he was rear-ended by Justyn Scott, 18, of Wharton.

The impact then pushed Crowe’s vehicle into a third vehicle.

Crowe and one of his passengers, Trina Crowe, 39, of Dunkirk, were taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital for their injuries.

The sheriff’s office issued Scott a citation for causing the crash.

All the committee hearings will be televised on public broadcasting stations around the state and streamed live on ohiochannel.org.

Three Realtor Groups In Northwest Ohio Merge

The Heartland Board of Realtors in Findlay, the Toledo Regional Association of Realtors, and the Northwestern Board of Realtors merged together to form Northwest Ohio Realtors.

Megan Foos out of Toledo said that this helps bring extra resources to the realtors in the region.

This includes a government affairs specialist and has access to a better listing service and housing reports.

Foos added that the move boosts the voice realtors from northwest Ohio have.

The merger allows all three groups to take advantage of a larger team and staff which includes a government affairs specialist.

Bella Stops By From The Humane Society

UPDATE – We learned that Bella was adopted after her visit to the radio station, so that’s great news. But the humane society still has plenty of great furry friends to adopt.

The Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County has plenty of animals that are still looking for their ‘furever’ home in the new year.

Bella stopped by 100.5 WKXA and had a fun time checking out the studio.

The Humane Society’s Natalie Reffitt says Bella is a really good girl.

“She is pretty sweet…just really sweet.”

Reffitt says Bella, a six-year-old beagle mix, could be a great addition to your family, but they would have to make sure first.

“Everyone in the home would have to come in and meet with her, and if you have dogs in the home they would have to meet as well just to make sure the dogs are compatible.”

Reward Money Being Redirected Towards Harley’s Funeral

Port Clinton residents are now preparing for a funeral after weeks of searching for a missing teenager.

The community was stunned on Tuesday by the news that 14-year-old Harley Dilly’s body was found in an abandoned house near his family’s home.

Police say Harley died of asphyxiation when he became stuck in the house’s chimney.

An autopsy revealed the teen likely died within hours of his disappearance on December 20th.

Residents and businesses who donated money towards a reward in the search are now redirecting those funds to funeral costs.

A PayPal account has also been established if people wish to donate money for Harley’s funeral, which hasn’t been arranged yet.

Ohio Bill Would Ban Handheld Devices While Driving, Make Distracted Driving Primary Offense

Ohio lawmakers are looking at a new bill which, if enacted, would ban using handheld devices while driving.

State Representative Mary Lightbody introduced the legislation with the aim of both banning handheld devices and making it a primary offense.

If made a primary offense, police officers would be able to cite a driver for using a handheld device without any other traffic violations haven taken place.

Cathy Richeson, of Granville, agrees with the new bill wholeheartedly.

Her son, Nathan, a captain with the air national guard, was hit and killed in 2014 by a woman who was texting while driving.

Cathy says people don’t understand what a selfish act distracted driving is.

“So, we need to have laws in place so that is clearly understood and we make this world a safer place to live.”

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in 2018, distracted driving directly accounted for nearly 50 deaths across the state.

Missing Port Clinton Teen Found Dead In Vacant Home

Harley Dilly, the missing teen from Port Clinton, was found dead in the chimney of a vacant home near his house.

Port Clinton Police Chief Rob Hickman shared the findings during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Hickman was limited on what he could share because the investigation continues.

He said that Dilly was found stuck in the chimney and that they don’t currently suspect foul play.

Hickman explained that it appears Dilly climbed on to the roof and into the chimney.

He added that officials had no reason to believe there was anyone in the home because the building was completely locked and there were no signs of forced entry.

The house is a summer home and was closed for renovations according to Hickman.

There’s no word on what prompted the search of the house.

Officials are waiting on an autopsy report before they release anymore information.

Hickman asked for the support of the family during this time and added, “this was not the outcome we wanted.”

Harley went missing on December 20.
