Future ‘Mad Scientists’ Enjoy Funday Sunday At Mazza Museum

A lot of youngsters had fun at the University of Findlay Mazza Museum’s Funday Sunday: Mad Scientist event on Sunday afternoon.

Education Coordinator Heather Stensel says kids participated in a variety of experiments and activities.

“They’re making lava lamps over here, they’re exploding soap over there…”

She says there were more than 20 hands-on stations that the kids could enjoy.

So, why the Mad Scientist theme?

“Why we chose this one is to get kids involved in science, and our new STEAM edition will be breaking ground in April.”

STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics/medicine.

Sheriff’s Office Issues Tongue-In-Cheek PSA About Pants

“These are not my pants,” is not an affirmative defense.

That’s according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Dayton which is warning people about wearing someone else’s clothing.

The sheriff’s office posted a tongue-in-cheek public service announcement on its Facebook page saying…

“Prior to wearing someone else’s pants, please remove all drugs, drug paraphernalia, stolen property, or any other illegal items the “owner” of the pants may have left behind.”

The post concluded by saying that they are not attorneys in the sheriff’s office and the message isn’t intended as legal advice.

“Please consult an actual attorney prior to wearing someone else’s pants with drug filled pockets. Thank you.”

Man Charged With Murder In Connection With Fostoria Break-In

Police say Jeron Sutton, 28, of Toledo is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and having weapons under disability.

While attempting to arrest Sutton, he fled from officers through Toledo in a vehicle pursuit which eventually ended when his vehicle got stuck in a yard.

He then took off on foot and was apprehended in the back yard of a residence.

He’s being held in the Lucas County Jail and will be transported back to Seneca County after a court appearance.

On October 19th, Fostoria police say a man called 911 saying two people had broken into his residence in the 200 block of West Lytle Street and during a struggle the owner had been shot as well as one of the intruders.

Police arrived on the scene and found the intruder dead and the owner of the home suffering from a gunshot wound.

Findlay Olympian Reunited With Missing Custom Cane

The Findlay Police Department says a local Olympian is moving around again with his custom cane after it went missing a year ago.

Police say Weldy Olson was reunited with his cane a few days before Christmas when it was spotted inside a car at the Walmart on Tiffin Avenue.

Olson’s cane is made from a hockey stick and has “Olson” printed on it.

It has a lot of sentimental value because it was a gift from his son.

Olson lost it in December of 2018 when it was left behind at a store.

Olson won a silver medal in hockey with Team USA in 1956 before winning gold in 1960.
