2 Arrested After Drug Task Force Raids Findlay House

Two people were arrested after a drug task force raided and searched a home in Findlay.

The Hancock County METRICH Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Findlay Police Department Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at 1015 Cedar Avenue in Findlay a little before 6 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators say the search of the residence yielded cocaine, crack cocaine, suspected fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, cash and items indicative of drug trafficking.

Arrested were Dana Ryan II, 27, of Michigan, and Linsay C. Pittman, 32, of Findlay.

Both were taken to the Hancock County Jail.

Authorities say additional charges are expected when the investigation concludes.

United Way Finishes Fundraising Campaign Later This Month

The United Way of Hancock County is busy finishing up its fundraising campaign.

CEO Angela DeBoskey said that they have done a good job raising funds for area organizations.

DeBoskey added that the United Way is working hard to alleviate past concerns about how they handle money.

DeBoskey explained that they have met with the agencies they are supporting to let them know what they can expect from United Way

She added that they will release a full report to the public once the campaign is complete.

Findlay City Council Decides Against Digital Sign

Findlay City Council voted down an ordinance that would put a digital sign project out to bid.

Several council members thought it wouldn’t be fair to ask for designs and plans from companies together information about the sign when they aren’t sure they want the sign.

Councilman Jeff Wobser added that since the sign would along the I-75 he wanted to wait and see what the corridor would look like once it is finished from ODOT’s I-75 Widening Project.

Bereavement Coordinator Talks About Grief Around The Holidays

The holidays are usually happy times but they can be hard for some.

BVHS Bereavement Coordinator Kristi Beall says people who have suffered a loss could struggle because family traditions and events can trigger painful memories.

She said that you should practice self-care and try not to overload yourself if you are struggling with grief.

Beall explained that it is okay to only go to one or two parties that mean a lot to you instead of all the parties you are invited to.

Beall added that having someone you can rely on to talk or help you can be beneficial when your grief feels like it is too much.

Semi vs. Car Crash On U.S. 68/State Route 15 In Findlay

A crash involving a semi and two vehicles on U.S. 68/State Route 15 in Findlay left at least one person injured.

The crash happened at around 10 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 68/State Route 15, near Western Avenue.

We were told the crash did not involve Western Avenue.

At the crash scene a semi and a station wagon could be seen pressed up against each other.

WFIN News was told on the scene that the driver of the station wagon was being treated.

The road was shut down as the crash was cleared and investigated.

More details will be available when the Ohio State Highway Patrol completes its report on the crash.

Everyone Invited To Sing Christmas Carols At Dorney Plaza

The City of Findlay is inviting everyone to join together outside the municipal building Friday night to sing Christmas carols.

Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn invites the community to gather around the Christmas Tree in Dorney Plaza on Friday, December 20, 2019, at 5:30pm for an evening full of Christmas music by the Donnell Middle School Band, Hancock County Children’s Choir, Movement Church band, and Findlay First Edition.

Donnell Middle School Band will welcome the crowd from 5:15pm-5:30pm, and music by Hancock County Children’s Choir, Movement Church Band, and Findlay First Edition begins at 5:30pm. The program will end with a Christmas Caroling community sing along led by Mayor Muryn.

This free community event includes free coffee and hot chocolate sponsored by We Serve, Coffee, and free cookies sponsored by Movement Church.

Carolers are encouraged to stay downtown and enjoy Kiwanis Santa’s House at St. Andrews Church from 6pm-8pm. This annual tradition includes a visit with Santa Claus and free wagon rides in Downtown Findlay.

Ohio State’s 2020 Recruiting Class Ranked In Top 5

The national media is ranking Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class as the third-best in the country.

Following national signing day on Wednesday, the Buckeyes landed 24 total players, including three five-star recruits, 14 four-star recruits, and seven three-star prospects to finish behind Clemson and Alabama.

Ohio State also widened its recruiting gap in the Big Ten with Michigan and Penn State as the next highest-ranked schools with the Wolverine at number eleven and the Nittany Lions at number 14.

How Ohio’s U.S. Reps Voted In Impeachment Process

Ohio’s 16 U.S. representatives are in the history books for having voted for or against the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

As expected, all 12 Ohio Republicans, including northwest Ohio’s Bob Latta and central Ohio’s Troy Balderson voted against, while the four Ohio Democrats including Joyce Beatty, voted in favor of the two articles of impeachment against Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The impeachment process will now move to the U.S. Senate, where Ohio’s Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown will sit as jurors.

Ohio Lawmakers Want Special Discount For Electric Truck Built In Ohio

Ohio lawmakers are proposing a special discount to get Ohioans to buy a new all-electric vehicle that will be produced in-state.

Details of a bipartisan effort to create a $500 incentive on buying personal electric vehicles and a $1,000 incentive on commercial EVs were revealed at the Lordstown auto factory.

Automotive start-up company Lordstown Motors recently took over the former GM plant and will begin building a new all-electric pickup truck called the Endurance in November 2020.

In addition to the discount off the price of an Endurance, the new incentives would also offer $1,500 for the purchase of a charging station.

Findlay City Schools Superintendent Takes New Job

Findlay City Schools Superintendent Ed Kurt announced that after six years he will be leaving the district.

In a letter to the district’s staff, Kurt announced that he had decided to accept an offer to become the Superintendent of Margaretta Local Schools, where he is originally from.

Kurt says that this will bring him and his wife closer to their family as he finishes out his career.

He adds that he is sad to leave the district but is happy with all that he has accomplished during his six-year tenure.

Kurt’s last day will be July 31, 2020.
