An Ohio based manufacturer is announcing plans to bring back the iconic Longaberger brand of baskets.

Dresden and Company has announced it had reached an agreement with New York based Xcel Brands to restart the basket brand, which at one time brought in an estimated one-billion dollars in annual sales.

Longaberger was also known for its famous basket-shaped building in Newark, which served as its headquarters from 1997 to 2016.

Central Ohio developer Steve Coon is planning to turn the basket building into a luxury hotel set to open by 2021.

A judge in southeastern Ohio has put a gag order on attorneys in a high profile murder case.

The Hocking County judge is putting the kibosh on pretrial publicity in the cases of two teenagers charged in the death of a Chillicothe photographer.

The judge issued an order barring the attorneys from making any public statements unless the same are made on court record.

On Labor Day, prosecutors say 16-year-olds Jaden Churchheus and Jordan Buckley forced a 6-foot, 74-pound log off a cliff at Hocking Hills State Park.

The log landed on photographer Victoria Schafer, who was killed instantly.

Both teens will appear in court on Friday. They are being tried as adults.

The NCAA has concluded its review, and it’ll end up being a two-game suspension for Ohio State’s best defensive player.

Ohio State Defensive End Chase Young will sit out this weekend’s game against Rutgers but Ohio State said he will be eligible to play against Penn State the following weekend.

Before missing Saturday’s Maryland game it was revealed that Young had possibly violated NCAA rules by accepting a loan from a friend that he later paid back.

Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn was invited to the Whitehouse to take part in a round table discussion.

She said that the meeting covered housing and the barriers that the federal government has in place that creates issues with affordability.

Muryn added that while she was there she met with the Deputy Surgeon General to talk about community health and some of the things she has started to help people exercise.

She also talked with the executive director of the National Forum on Cardiovascular Health and Senator Rob Portman.

Findlay Publishing Company is selling some of its assets, including the Findlay Courier.

Findlay Publishing Company announced today the decision to sell the Findlay Courier and The Fostoria Review-Times to the Ogden Newspapers, effective by the end of the month.

The Heminger family has owned the Courier for 5 generations and managed it for 4. The sale comes with heavy hearts but Kurt Heminger said Ogden Newspapers shares similar values and philosophies.

Ogden Newspapers is a family-owned business that got its start in 1890 and now owns over 40 daily newspapers, including the Tiffin Advertiser-Tribune.

Findlay Publishing Company and the Heminger Family will continue to own and operate radio stations WFIN – WKXA and 106.3 The Fox in Findlay and Ottawa, along with the four radio stations in Columbus, Indiana, under the current broadcast leadership.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are number two in the newly released College Football Playoff rankings.

The Playoff Committee moved LSU ahead of the Buckeyes, based on the Tigers road victory over then number three Alabama.

Penn State’s loss to Minnesota dropped them out of the top four, moving Georgia into their former slot while defending champion Clemson claimed the number three seed.

Ohio State will next play Rutgers before ending the season with ranked matchups against Penn State at home and on the road at Michigan.

The City of Findlay’s Blanchard Street project is one step closer to reality.

On Tuesday night, the Findlay City Council Appropriations Committee recommended that council move forward with the project that would reconfigure Blanchard Street into one lane in either direction, and a dedicated center turn lane, from Sixth Street to Center Street.

The project also calls for a bike lane to be constructed on either side of the street.

The city has said the reconfiguration will make the road safer for drivers and pedestrians.

Some residents have been outspoken in their opposition to the project.

The mayor admitted the project could have been better communicated to the public.

The full city council could vote on approving grant money from ODOT for the project as early as their meeting on Tuesday, November 19th.

The estimated cost of the project is $2.7 million, of which all but $214,000 would be covered by grants.

The city says its max share of the cost of the project would be no more than $328,000.

People lined the streets of Dayton on Tuesday to honor a detective who was killed in the line of duty.

The funeral procession for Jorge Del Rio followed a packed service at the University of Dayton Arena.

Officers from the Findlay Police Department attended the funeral and posted the following on their Facebook page.

This afternoon officers from the Findlay Police Department attended the funeral for Dayton Police Detective Jorge DelRio who was fatally wounded during a narcotics search warrant last week. Our thoughts and prayers are with Detective DelRio’s family and brothers and sisters in blue at DPD.

The service for the fallen officer ended with a 21-gun salute. Del Rio was shot twice while trying to serve a search warrant.

Three men charged in connection with his death are due in court next week. A GoFundMe page has been set up for Del Rio’s family.

People in Findlay are waking up to temperatures around 4 degrees with a wind chill below zero.

The temperature will rebound during the day on Wednesday up to around 28 but wind chill values will be as low as -8.

So, if you still have some shoveling to do after Monday’s 4 inches of snow, you might want to wait until Thursday or Friday to do it.

Thursday and Friday are forecast to be mostly sunny with a high of 35, and a lighter wind.

There are a few school delays for Wednesday morning.

A Fremont man was arrested following a chase through Fostoria into Wood County.

The Fostoria Police Division reports that officers responded to a call of a suspicious man with a vehicle looking into houses at around 2:45 am Monday.

Officers found the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to stop it but the driver tried to drive head-on into the cruiser leading the chase.

The suspect left the city and crashed in a field. Police eventually caught the suspect with the help of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and Fostoria K9 Unit.

Police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Quentin Sims and took him to the hospital for his injuries.

Sims was released into police custody and has been charged with burglary and eluding police.
