People should use extra caution while driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle.

You should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches.

If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm

Also, remember to secure any outdoor objects because the high winds will blow them around.

Showers are likely on Wednesday with a temperature falling to around 40 by 5 p.m.

It’ll be cloudy Wednesday night with a low of 35.

Thanksgiving is coming soon and you’ll want to make sure your food is prepared with your health in mind.

Director of Environmental Health at Hancock Public Health Lindsay Summit said it’s important to know who cooks the food and how.

She said you should wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm water.

Summit said that you’ll want to make sure your turkey is thawed completely as well.

She added that the internal temperature of your turkey should be around 165 degrees Fahrenheit when it is cooked.

You also shouldn’t leave leftovers out for more than 4 hours.

A big piece of the Interstate 75 reconstruction and widening project through Findlay has been completed.

The new Lima Avenue Interchange at U.S. 68/State Route 15, which includes double roundabouts, opened to traffic for the first time on Tuesday morning.

ODOT District 1 director Chris Hughes said they’re excited to open it back up to the public.

This phase of the project was slated to be finished in December but Hughes said they managed to get ahead of schedule.

According to Hughes, the roundabouts will help the flow of traffic and increase safety.

He explained how people should maneuver the roundabouts.

He added that you can find more helpful information on roundabouts on their website or by finding tutorials on YouTube.

Although the new interchange is open, there are still a few restrictions in place and drivers won’t have full access to I-75 as construction continues.

Hughes said the entire project is expected to be finished by late next summer.

The projected was originally slated to be finished by the end of next year.

(ONN) – It’s Beat Michigan Week, and little ones entering the world this week are being born into the biggest rivalry in sports.

Twelve babies were born on the first day of this year’s Beat Michigan Week at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Each newborn is swaddled in a scarlet blanket that reads Beat Michigan and has the M crossed out.

The babies were also given tiny Ohio State helmet-inspired caps to go with their Ohio State blankets.

The Buckeyes take on the Wolverines at noon Saturday in Ann Arbor.

(ONN) – Two state government offices previously at odds over Ohio’s online checkbook are partnering to keep the website going.

The Office of the Ohio Treasurer and the Ohio Office of Budget and Management announced the collaboration.

Under previous administrations, the two offices launched separate, competing sites for searching state spending information.

Treasurer Robert Sprague and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said the collaboration will mean better service at lower cost and will enhance transparency for the media and public.

Their plan calls for OhioCheckbook.com, which provides government spending data, to continue while folding in revenue information from OBM’s interactive budget.

After months of negotiations, the Fostoria City Schools Board of Education and the Fostoria Education Association have come to a contract agreement.

In the two-year deal, teachers would receive a salary bump of 3.5 percent in the first year and two percent in the following year.

The deal also calls for teachers to get some help in paying the cost of their insurance premiums.

The teachers started off this school year working under a contract that had expired over the summer.

One person is in stable condition after being stabbed during a domestic dispute in Findlay.

The Findlay Police Department reports that officers were called to an apartment on 109 Larkins Street just before noon on Monday.

According to officers, 34-year-old William Burkhalter and 28-year-old Tobias Bixler were visiting the same woman when the altercation started.

Officers say Burkhalter pulled out a folding knife and stabbed Bixler 4 times before driving off and throwing the knife out the window.

Officers found Burkhalter at the Hancock County Probation Office where he was taken into custody without incident.

Bixler was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital ER where he was admitted to the ICU. He is in stable condition

Burkhalter is being held at the Hancock County Justice Center.

FOCUS, the community organization supporting those impacted by mental health, addiction, or trauma issues, is celebrating Thanksgiving a day early.

Director Ellyn Schmiesing said they want to share the holiday with the community.

The meal will be available from 12 – 2 pm on Wednesday at 509 West Trenton Avenue.

Schmiesing said FOCUS will be open as usual from 10 am to 7 pm on Thanksgiving Day to give people a place to come.

Schmiesing said they want to have a welcoming place for people to find camaraderie.

The Findlay Fire Department shared a video on Facebook showing what happens when a frozen turkey is put in a fryer, and spoilers, it involves a lot of fire.

Findlay Fire Inspector Kevin Shinise said it’s important to know the instructions.

He added that location also plays a major role in preventing fires.

Shinise said you also want to check for flammable objects like leaves that can spread quickly.

He added that it won’t hurt to have a fire extinguisher handy as well.

Inside your home, he said you’ll want to make sure your stove is clean and that you don’t put too much into it at once.

You should also make sure your fire detectors are working.

According to Shinise, the most thing is to pay attention to what you’re doing and don’t get distracted.
