Logos Painted On Findlay Streets Ahead Of The Race For The Cure

There are three freshly painted Susan G. Komen logos in Findlay as this year’s race approaches.

Big Dave with our sister station 100.5 WKXA helped paint the logos.

We caught up with him in front of Blanchard Valley Hospital as he was putting down the pink paint.

“This is where the start line is, so we’re painting one here, and one down in front of the emergency room and then one more in front of Marathon who is the title sponsor of the race this year.”

Dave was helped out by his son and Sarah Crisp, from Awakening Minds Art who has for years volunteered her time to paint the logos.

“We’re excited to volunteer to do this and to contribute our time to the cause.”

The Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure in Findlay is on Saturday, September 28th.

Mayor Walks With Middle School Students, Encourages Them To Be Active

Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn took her Move With The Mayor campaign to Glenwood Middle School to encourage kids to get active.

“I just wanted to come out and meet the kids, and make sure that they know that we value them in our community and also encourage them to walk and to be healthy.”

The mayor says if we can train kids early to have healthy lifestyle habits that will really help them throughout their lives.

Mayor Muryn also played a friendly game of four square with some students, as members of the fire department shot some hoops with the kids.

The Mayor’s Move With The Mayor campaign recently had two walks in the downtown area and she says they’ll be having more walks in the future.

“We’re just encouraging people to get out and walk. You can make it as long or as short as you want, walking has a lot of health benefits.”

The mayor is inviting people to join her and the Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County to Wags and Walks on October 2nd. 2019 at Emory Adams Park.

In an effort to promote heart-healthy activity and pet rescue in Findlay and Hancock County, the event includes an evening stroll around Emory Adams Park with a local shelter dog.

Findlay Considering Fire Training Facility

(WFIN) – The City of Findlay is looking at options to build a training facility for emergency responders in our area.

Findlay Fire Chief Josh Eberle said that it can be difficult to find places available to host a training procedure locally.

The training facility that Eberle said he’d like to see built will feature a burn room and a general use area for training fire, EMS, and police.

He adds that the facility will be a benefit to all of the emergency responders in Hancock County.

He added that the facility will also be made available to other emergency responder agencies for a small fee.

The training facility that Eberle said he’d like to see built will feature a burn room and a general use area for training fire, EMS, and police.

Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn adds that it makes sense to have.

Muryn said early projections say the facility will cost around $625,000.

(WFIN) – You’ll be seeing farm machinery out on the roads soon as farmers tend to fields and harvest what they managed to get planted.

Crow adds that there is a caveat when it comes to passing slow-moving vehicles.

Crow said that the best option is still to wait for a passing zone where it is safer to pass.

Crow also points out that it is illegal to put a slow-moving vehicle symbol on the back of trailers that aren’t designed to be slow-moving.

ODOT Says Lima Avenue Still On Pace For Mid-December Completion

We’re only about three months away from drivers being able to use the new Lima Avenue double roundabout interchange at State Route 15 and US 68 in Findlay.

“We just completed the bridge pour over Lima Avenue which is one of the main components of keeping this on track for hopefully mid-December,” said Project Engineer Ryan Bair.

Bair says if the weather stays nice they’ll be able to meet that deadline, but if this fall is as rainy as last fall the completion date may have to be moved back.

Meantime, the entire Interstate 75 reconstruction and widening project through Findlay is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2020.
