The Findlay Rotary Club has announced the nine semifinalists for its 2019 Golden Apple Awards.
Each year, Rotary chooses three teachers from the elementary level, three from the middle school level and three from the high school level to compete for the award.
The finalists will be announced at the annual Golden Apple Awards Dinner on October 16th.
The finalist at each level receives the Golden Apple Award along with a $2,500 cash prize.
They also receive an invitation to join the Golden Apple Academy, a group consisting of all past Golden Apple Award finalists.
At the elementary level, the three semifinalists are: Bridgett Bunn, K-5 Intervention Specialist at Van Buren; Denise Matson, K-5 Physical Education Specialist at Liberty-Benton; and Tom Whipkey, Third and Fourth Grade Teacher at Wilson Vance Intermediate.
At the middle school level, the three semifinalists: Wendi Davis, Director of Instrumental Music Activities grades 5-12 at Cory-Rawson; Kathleen Rayle, Intervention Specialist grades 6-8 at Glenwood Middle School; and David Sorensen, Instrumental Music Instructor at Arlington.
At the high school level, the three semifinalists: Martie Andrews, Intervention Specialist at Findlay; Kris Sherer, Art Teacher at Cory-Rawson; Cassie Van Horn, Instructor at Millstream Career Center, Findlay.
