Eagle Creek In Minor Flood Stage

07/08/19 – 5:35 A.M.

Eagle Creek in Findlay is in the minor Flood stage this morning. the creek crested at 9.7 feet around 3 a.m. and is on its way down. it Should leave the flood stage later this morning.

The Blanchard River is not expected to flood after recent rainfall. The rain had caused several areas to shut down including Main Street in Arlington last night.

Findlay Man Killed In Oak Harbor Motorcycle Accident

07/08/19 – 5:30 A.M.

A Findlay man was killed in an accident in Ottawa County. The State Highway Patrol reports that the accident happened at 6:15 p.m. on State Route 105 west of Oak Harbor and resulted in the death of 54-year-old David Snoke. According to the patrol, 20-year-old Andru Fowler failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck Snoke head on.

Snoke was thrown from his motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet. Fowler was wearing a helmet but suffered incapacitating injuries and was flown to Toledo Hospital.

Neither drugs or alcohol are suspected as a factor in the crash.

Tiffin Avenue Crash Injures Findlay Motorcyclist

07/08/19 – 5:22 A.M.

A Findlay motorcyclist was injured in an accident on Tiffin Avenue Friday. The Findlay Police Department reports that the accident happened around 3:45 p.m. in front of Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen. 47-year-old Douglas Martin lost control of his motorcycle and sustained head injuries, road rash, and possibly a broken pelvis. Witnesses told police that a car merged into Martin’s lane causing him to lose control. The crash remains under investigation.

Hanco EMS took Martin to Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Identifies Mount Blanchard Man In Suspicious Death Case

07/08/19 – 5:14 A.M.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of 22-year-old Boe Bushong. Deputies were called to Bushong’s home in Amanda Township Thursday evening. The sheriff’s office isn’t sure if the death is a homicide but hopes to have preliminary autopsy results from the Lucas County Coroner today.

Deputies want to talk to Ashlie Velasquez about the death. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is being asked to call the sheriff’s office at 419-422-2424.

Local Gas Prices Barely Beat State Average

07/08/19 – 5:02 A.M.

While gas prices in Findlay are on the rise, they remain below the state average in most places. The average price for a gallon of regular is $2.69. That compares to $2.34 just a few weeks ago. The state average is $2.70/gallon of regular.

Ottawa’s gas prices remain above the state average at $2.73/gallon.

Hancock County Sheriff Investigating Suspicious Death

07/05/19 – 3:19 P.M.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious death from an Amanda Township home. The sheriff’s office reports that they responded to the death around 10 p.m. on July 4 on Township Road 194. No other details are available about the death.

They are asking for help in locating Ashlie Velasquez. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hancock County Sheriff at 419-422-2424.

Fostoria Woman Arrested On Vehicular Assault Charges

07/05/19 – 2:53 P.M.

A Fostoria woman was arrested Wednesday after she hit a pedestrian with her car and drove off. Fostoria Police report they arrested 30-year-old Jacqueline Ross on aggravated vehicular assault charges. She allegedly hit a woman with her car just after 7 a.m. in the 100 block of East Lytle Street.

The woman that was hit was taken to the police station to report the incident. She was treated and released from ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital.

After talking to the victim and witnesses, officers identified Ross as the driver.

Kroger Store On Sixth Street In Findlay Robbed Wednesday

07/05/19 – 2:19 P.M.

A man robbed the Kroger store on Sixth Street in Findlay Wednesday. Employees told police that the man came in around 5 p.m. and demanded cash. They gave him an undisclosed amount of cash and he rode away on a bicycle.

Former McComb Police Officer Sentenced On Insurance Fraud Charges

07/05/19 – 1:47 P.M.

A former McComb police officer was sentenced in the Hancock County Common Pleas Court for insurance fraud. Evan Ramge was sentenced to five years of community control sanctions and will have to pay over $17,300 in restitution.

The state insurance department found that Ramge submitted fraudulent claims to multiple insurance companies totaling almost $38,000. According to the department, Ramge filed five fraudulent claims with three insurance companies.

Ramge fabricated receipts to support payment claims for jewelry, drones, and a firearm accessory. He indicated the items had been lost or damaged.
