Bright Road Crash Injures Two

06/10/19 – 4:56 A.M.

A Sunday morning crash on Bright Road in Findlay sent two women to the hospital. The Findlay Police Department reports that the accident happened in the 1300 block of Bright Road. 20-year-old Tateeana Ibarra of Findlay was heading south on the road when she lost control of her vehicle and spun out. She struck a car driven by 38-year-old Alison Mosler of Ada.

Both women were taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital. Police cited Ibarra for failure to control.

Findlay Woman Sentenced In Seneca County On Cocaine Charges

A Findlay woman was sentenced to community control on drug charges. 43-year-old Kristen Rowland was given a three-year community control sentence by Judge Michael Kelbley in the Seneca County Common Pleas Court. She must also go to counseling, substance abuse rehabilitation, or treatment. She will be evaluated and must complete a substance abuse rehabilitation program through Rigel Recovery Services with random drug tests.

Kelbley pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cocaine.

3rd Annual Findlay Air Expo Kicks Off Tomorrow

The 3rd annual Findlay Air Expo will be coming to the Findlay Airport this weekend. Airport manager Matt McVicker explained that they will have free parking off location…

People were concerned about getting to and finding parking at the airport due to the closure of Lima Avenue. McVicker said that having the shuttle makes it easier for people to attend.

The event will feature a few options for aircraft rides.

McVicker added that they will also have a car show involved. The event is this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Findlay Airport.

OVI Checkpoint Announced For Findlay Tonight

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be working with local enforcement agencies for an OVI Checkpoint tonight. The checkpoint will be held from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Main Street in Findlay. There will also be patrols out nearby to help combat alcohol-related crashes.

The checkpoint is meant to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

Mazza Museum Getting Geared Up For “Enchanted brush” Exhibit

The University of Findlay’s Mazza Museum will kick off the fifth annual “Enchanted Brush” summer exhibit soon. The exhibit will feature works by artists around the world. The artists were asked to create original work that pays tribute to an existing work of art, an artist, or a work of literature.

The exhibit will be open from June 10 to August 2 in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion’s Lea Gallery. There will be an artist reception on Wednesday, July 17 at 6 p.m.

McComb Cookie Festival Back On This Year

The McComb Cookie Festival is back on after organizers walked away earlier this year. Declining attendance and a past financial disagreement led to organizers bringing a stop to the event. Kim Louviaux volunteered to make sure it happens though. She has added a cookie baking contest, a beer and wine garden, live entertainment, and a visit from Cookie Monster.

The festival kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday and will be capped with a firework display on Sunday.

Troopers Arrest Two Men After A Chase On I-75 In Wood County

06/07/19 – 5:24 A.M.

A chase in Wood County landed two men in jail on drug and weapons charges. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that troopers tried to pull over a truck on I-75 in Wood County for driving slowly in the left lane. The driver took off and exited the interstate onto I-475, making multiple exits re-entires along the way.

Troopers eventually arrested the driver, 31-year-old Hakeem Abdullah of Michigan, and the passenger, 39-year-old Tony Wear of Tennesee. They found guns, crystal meth, and marijuana in the car. Both men are being held at the Wood County Justice Center.

Northbound Ramps At Lima Avenue And U.S. 68/State Route 15 Open This Weekend

06/07/19 – 5:09 A.M.

ODOT reports that the new northbound ramps at Lima Avenue and U.S. 68/State Route 15 to I-75 northbound will open soon. They say that they will start opening the ramps late Friday and finish Saturday morning. Once open, drivers heading west on State Route 15 will use part of the new roundabout to access State Route 15 and Lima Avenue. Drivers heading east will get to use part of the roundabout to access Lima Avenue, State Route 15 and northbound I-75.

Program Available To Help Young People Become Self Sufficient

The Comprehensive Case Management Employment Program is designed for 14 to 24-year-olds that need help becoming self-sufficient by getting a career coach. Jeri Steinbrook runs the program for Hancock County. She said that there are some restrictions though…

Findlay Announces Hydrant Flushing Today

The Findlay Water Distribution Department will be flushing hydrants today. The department reports that they will be working in the area of McManness Avenue east to County Road 236 from Tiffin Avenue north to Fostoria Avenue.
