A Findlay man was reunited with a car he owned 50 years ago. Tom Brumley bought his 1967 Pontiac GTO when it was new, shortly after he had finished med school. The now 77-year-old Brumley sold the car after about three years to get a family sedan.

Brumley’s name was on the paperwork in the glove box, which allowed the owner of the car in 1995 to track him down. The two became friends and Brumley was given the opportunity to buy the car back after making offers for “years and years”.

An extremely rare flag is coming to Findlay beginning this Thursday. The Hancock Historical Museum will host the unique 13-star American flag. The banner is believed to have flown over Fort Independence in Boston during the Revolutionary War. The flag is the only one of its type available for public viewing.

Visitors to the museum can see the flag from Flag Day through July 5th.

4-H groups in Findlay and Hancock County will be gathering food next month to support a local charity. Cassie Anderson of the Hancock County OSU Extension office said that they want to give back to the community.

Anderson added that this year they will be accepting donations from the public as well. She said you can bring food and hygiene items to the OSU Extension Office if you want to donate. The items will be accepted through July.

Gas prices in Findlay are trailing down. The average price for a gallon of regular is $2.52 this morning after reaching a high over $2.70 last week. This also beats the state average of $2.57 for a gallon of regular.

Ottawa prices remain at $2.65/gallon.

ODOT has announced some road projects in Putnam County this week. State Route 114 between U.S. 224 and Road M in Kalida and U.S. 224 between the Van Wert County line and the eastern corporation limit of Kalida, excluding the village of Ottoville, will both be restricted to one lane. These restrictions will be done for pavement resurfacing through late July.

Main Street east of Elm Street in the village of Ottawa will close today for about five days for a waterline installation project. State Route 115 will be restricted to one lane between the Allen County Line and State Route 12 for pavement repairs.

The following routes throughout Putnam County will be restricted to one lane for the cleaning of drainage structures: State Route 65, State Route 189, U.S. 224 and State Route 634.

The City of Findlay Water Distribution Department plans to flush more hydrants today. The hydrants will be in the area of McManness Avenue east to County Road 236 from Tiffin Avenue north to Fostoria Avenue. Work will also be done on hydrants in the area of County Road 236 east to Township Road 242 from State Route 568 north to State Route 12.

Ohio Northern University will have lay-offs and leave vacancies unfilled to cut costs. The Associated Press reports that the school will lay-off 16 staff members and won’t fill nearly three dozen vacancies. ONU will also discontinue 10 academic programs in order to save $4 – $8 million dollars.

President Dan DiBiasio said that they want to strengthen their financial position.

6/10/19 – 5:16 A.M.

ODOT will be busy in Hancock County this week. I-75 southbound will be reduced to one lane for bridge deck repairs between State Route 698 and the City of Findlay tomorrow. State Route 103 between Jenera and Arlington will close today for about 45 days for a pavement repair and shoulder widening project.

Culvert replacement projects will close State Route 235 in several locations. The road will close today for about five days between Township Road 47 and State Route 12, as well as between State Route 12 and U.S. 224 north of Benton Ridge.

County Road 96 at the intersection with State Route 235 will close for about two days for a culvert replacement.
