Hancock County Hosts Memorial Service To Honor Fallen Police Officers

The Hancock County Law Enforcement Memorial Service was held Monday to honor those that died in the line of duty. Oregon, Ohio police chief Mike Navarre was the keynote speaker. He said that law enforcement officers have a dangerous job.

Several law enforcement agencies in Hancock County recognized officers that have died in the line of duty. They also offered prayers for current men and women serving as law enforcement.

“Living Through Loss” Series Focusing On Growth And Healing Next Monday

The final presentation for the “Living Through Loss” series will focus on growth, reconciliation, and renewal. The presentation will feature volunteers that describe what their grief was like and what others might expect as they continue their journeys. They’ll also talk about what worked and what didn’t as they managed their grief and how to identify healing.

The presentation will be next Monday in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital. It will last from 7 – 8:30 p.m.

Hancock County JFS Discusses Need For Foster Families

Hancock County Job and Family Services is celebrating its foster families for Foster Care Awareness Month. Placement supervisor Angie Rader said that they still need more foster parents to enroll…

Rader said that this is a problem facing the entire state, not just Hancock County. She added that enrolling will require an application, some training, and a home check.

Hancock County JFS executive director Randall Galbraith added that they greatly appreciate the people that have enrolled. He said it is often a thankless job but that they help kids in need.

Law Enforcement Memorial Service Moved Indoors Tonight

Today’s soggy weather and chilly temperatures have moved the annual Hancock County Law Enforcement Service for fallen officers. The event will take place tonight at 6 p.m. inside the Dock at St. Marks United Methodist Church.

The annual event pays tribute to law enforcement officers from around the nation who lost their lives in the line of duty this year.

Kane Brown To Play Allen County Fair

Country music act Kane Brown will headline the Allen County Fair this summer. The fair board says Brown will perform on Saturday, August 17th in the grandstand.

Brown is known for hits like, “Heaven,” “What Ifs,” and “Lose It.”

Tickets go on sale next Tuesday and start at $45.

Local Gas Prices Down To Start The Week

5/13/19 – 5:34 A.M.

We’re seeing some relief at the gas pump this morning. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Findlay today is $2.59. That’s down 13 cents from last Monday.

The statewide average is down as well, falling 13 cents to $2.62 per gallon.

Prices in Ottawa have been steady for the last couple of weeks. They remain at $2.65 per gallon today.

Fostoria Man Convicted On Drug Trafficking Charges

5/13/19 – 5:26 A.M.

A Seneca County jury found a Fostoria man guilty on several drug charges last week. 25-year-old Antonio Smith faced five counts of complicity to trafficking in cocaine. The Review-Times reports the sales took place four times last summer in two locations in Fostoria.

Smith will receive his sentence on May 21st. He was already under community control for previous drug-related offenses.

Arlington Teens Injured In Friday Crash

5/13/19 – 5:19 A.M.

A one-car crash injured two Arlington teenagers late last week. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on Amanda Township Road 179, near Hancock County Road 172, around 6:20 p.m.

The teens were driving north on Road 179 when the driver went off the road and hit a tree. The sheriff’s office says the crash caused injuries but didn’t specify if the driver, passenger or both teenagers were hurt. They did not take anyone to the hospital.

The juveniles involved have not been publicly identified. Deputies cited the driver for failure to maintain reasonable control.

Findlay Hydrant Flushing Program Starts Today

5/13/19 – 5:13 A.M.

Findlay’s annual fire hydrant flushing program begins today. Crews will flush hydrants in the North Blanchard Street area east to Bright Road, and from the Blanchard River north to Tiffin Avenue.

Help Offered For Those With Suspended Driver’s Licenses

5/13/19 – 5:08 A.M.

If you have a suspended drivers license you can get it taken care of this week. The Findlay Municipal Court is holding its second driving under suspension day this Thursday. Representatives from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Job and Family Services, and insurance companies will be available to help those who have suspended licenses.

The BMV is offering reduced reinstatement fees. They are waiving all fees for those receiving SNAP benefits.

The event is from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Findlay Municipal Court Thursday. Officials say it’s a good idea to get high-risk insurance arranged before arriving.
