Wharton Man Arrested Following Incident In Arlington

4/22/19 – 7:18 A.M.

A Wharton man is facing charges following an incident late last week in Arlington. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Jeremy Saldana tried to hurt a Sandusky woman by ramming the pickup truck they were in into a parked car in the village Thursday night.

Investigators say the woman was sitting in a truck with Saldana when he started driving at a high rate of speed on Main Street. She tried to jump from the truck but got her foot caught between the door and door frame. The woman says Saldana told her he was going to crash on purpose before hitting the parked car. The impact of the collision threw the victim from the truck, causing several broken bones.

Saldana faces an aggravated vehicular assault charge. Deputies also cited him for refusing to take an OVI test, a marked lanes violation, driving with an expired registration, and reckless operation.

One New Road Project In Findlay This Week

4/22/19 – 7:07 A.M.

You’ll see one new road project in Findlay this week. The city says it’s closing Western Avenue between West Hobart and West Yates avenues to through traffic on Tuesday. Crews will work on storm sewer repairs in that area.

Elsewhere work continues in plenty of familiar spots in Findlay. Crews will close Summit Street to through traffic between Lima Avenue and Lima Street for a waterline replacement project. Stanford Parkway is also closed for waterline replacement work between Westfield Drive and River Road.

The eastbound lane of Production Drive and the westbound lane of Industrial Drive are closed to traffic. If you’re trying to get into Tall Timbers you’ll need to use Production Drive. To get out you’ll have to use Industrial Drive.

Curb replacement is closing Fox Run Road between Saratoga Drive and Greendale Avenue and on Greendale Avenue from Bright Road to Fox Run Road. Curb replacement projects will also close Hardin Street between Western Avenue and Cory Street, as well as Scarlet Oak between Saratoga Drive and the cul-de-sac.

Findlay State Of The City Address Coming This Week

4/22/19 – 5:25 A.M.

Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn will give the State of the City address this week. The event will be at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Lindamood Room of the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library. It is open to the public.

Overflow parking is available in the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts on West Main Cross Street.

Findlay Man Injured In Sunday Night Motorcycle Crash

4/22/19 – 5:20 A.M.

A Sunday night motorcycle crash injured a Findlay man. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports 20-year-old Austin Flick was riding west on U.S. 224 near County Road 223 around 10 p.m. when he lost control and slid off the road.

Flick went to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

Deputies cited Flick for failure to maintain reasonable control.

Rivers Receding After Hitting Flood Stage Over The Weekend

4/22/19 – 5:16 A.M.

Waterways are receding after a wet start to the weekend led to some minor flooding around the area. The National Weather Service reports the Blanchard River in Findlay crested just above flood stage at 11.2 feet early Easter morning. It had dropped out of flood stage by Sunday afternoon.

Downstream in Ottawa the Blanchard crested in the minor flood stage around noon on Sunday. The NWS expects it to slowly recede today and drop out of action stage by tomorrow afternoon.

The Eagle Creek rose to slightly above the moderate flood stage at just above 10.1 feet early Sunday morning. It has since returned to normal levels.

Sunday Motorcycle Crash Kills Arlington Woman

4/22/19 – 5:05 A.M.

A Sunday night collision between a motorcycle and a car killed an Arlington woman. The State Highway Patrol says the crash happened at the intersection of I-75 and State Route 103 in Bluffton around 8:20 p.m.

53-year-old Larry Lee of Arlington was riding his motorcycle east on Route 103 when a car driven by 42-year-old Matthew Pfenninger of Cincinnati tried to cross into the intersection from the southbound exit ramp. The crash killed Lee’s passenger, 50-year-old Anne Lee. A medical helicopter took Larry Lee to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Pfenninger wasn’t hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.

Ramps Closures Expected Soon On U.S. 68/State Route 15 In Findlay

04/19/19 – 7:44 P.M.

There will be a couple of ramp closures coming to the I-75 reconstruction and widening project. The ramps that are closing will be at the interchange of U.S. 68/state Route 15 and Lima Avenue. The ramps that will close are U.S. 68/State Route 15 southbound to Lima Avenue westbound and Lima Avenue eastbound to U.S. 68/state Route 15 southbound. These ramps are located on the west side of U.S. 68/State Route 15 toward the airport.

The closure is expected to start on April 29 and last for about three weeks for roundabout construction. The ramps on the east side toward Cooper Tire will remain open until that project is finished. Then they will close for about three weeks for roundabout construction.

Alexa Now Compatible With American Red Cross Apps

04/19/19 – 7:16 p.m.

The American Red Cross is now using the Amazon Alexa to help people. Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter executive director Todd James said that the Alexa is compatible with several of their apps.

James added that you can also ask the Alexa emergency questions, too. He said that this can help if someone is injured or you need immediate advice on a situation.

First National Bank Celebrates 100 Years Of Operations

04/19/19 – 7:11 P.M.

First National Bank is celebrating 100 years of operations and they’re doing so by giving back to the communities they serve in. President and CEO Todd Mason explained that there are three principles that the bank was built on.
