A Bowling Green woman was apprehended in Michigan after she didn’t appear for arraignment for assaulting a “functionally-impaired” 14-year-old. The Sentinel-Tribune reports that 31-year-old Kendall Jackson will have to go through an extradition process to return to the area.

Jackson was indicted on one felonious assault count and eight counts of assault. All counts involve the same victim, whom she was listed as serving as a caretaker for.

04/29/19 – 4:21 A.M.

The Fostoria Police Department reported a successful prescription collection on Saturday. The department collected over 65 pounds of unused prescription medication in just 4 hours. They held the collection as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

You don’t have to wait until next year if you didn’t get to turn in your pills this weekend. You can drop off any unused pills at the take-back box in the police department lobby. You’re asked to only drop off pills and to get rid of pill bottles in a separate container. They will not accept liquids or syringes.

04/29/19 – 4:11 A.M.

Campaign expense reports have been filed for some of the contested races in Findlay. The Courier reports only two of the Republican Findlay City Council-at-Large candidates filed expense reports. Matthias Leguire reported $1,000 in contributions and around $877 in expenses. For Tom Shindledecker, the Shindledecker for Council campaign said that about $298 was brought forward from a previous report but no money had been spent as of last week.

Grant Russel and Jeff Wobser are also running for the three open seats. The top three vote-getters will face Democrat Abby Hefflinger in the November general election.

There are three Republicans running for the 5th Ward seat of Findlay City Council. The newspaper reports Brian Bauman listed $3,210 in contributions and around 2,600 in expenses. Randy Greeno isn’t too far behind with $2,850 in contributions and just over $2,800 in expense. David Spitler reported $358 in collections and the same amount in expenses.

The candidate chosen during the primary will face Independent Corey Knight.

04/29/19 – 3:49 A.M.

A Findlay woman was hurt in a car crash at the Freudenberg-NOK Sealing Technologies parking lot Friday. The Findlay Police Department reports that 42-year-old Kassi Murphy was stopped in the lot when 22-year-old Karrigan Hartman of Ada hit her from behind.

Murphy went to the Blanchard Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Since the accident happened on private property, nobody was cited.

04/29/19 – 3:40 A.M.

There are a few road projects that will affect travel in Putnam County this week. State Route 114 between U.S. 224 and Road M in Kalida will be restricted to one lane for pavement resurfacing. There will also be work done on U.S. 224 between the Van Wert County Line to eastern limits of Kalida. Crews will restrict the road to one lane except through Ottoville.

Both projects will last until late July.

04/29/19 – 2:49 A.M.

ODOT has announced road projects in Hancock County This week. They have closed the ramps at U.S. 68/Ohio 15 southbound to Lima Avenue westbound, and Lima Avenue eastbound to U.S. 68/State Route 15 southbound. These ramps are on the west side of U.S. 68/State Route 15 toward the airport. The closure is expected to last around 3 weeks as crews build the roundabout. The ramps on the east side towards Cooper tire will remain open.

The interstate will also be limited during nighttime hours in both the north and southbound lanes. Crews will be doing pavement reconstruction and widening work from just south of the Harrison Street to County Road 99. Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained during daytime hours.

04/26/19 – 5:18 P.M.

The area around the Harrison Street overpass in the Westpark neighborhood in Findlay flooded flood. The affected area is near the ODOT work area. Mayor Christina Muryn explained that they think the ditch is part of the problem…

She added that they are working with ODOT to determine if the sound blockers in the area had a hand in the issue. She said that as of right now it doesn’t look like they did.

04/26/19 – 2:05 P.M.

High water affected Bluffton early this morning. Village Administrator Jesse Blackburn explained that it all happened very quickly.

Blackburn said that they were forced to shut down College Avenue and North Main, Vance, and Cherry Streets. He added that you could still get through the village through indirect routes though.

The Riley is Creek is on its way down.

4/26/19 – 5:22 A.M.

A car hit Findlay City Councilman Grant Russel while he was crossing the street in downtown Thursday night. The Findlay Police Department says Russel was crossing South Main Street at the East Lima Street intersection just after 6 p.m. when a car driven by 84-year-old Gottfriede Fuerst of Findlay hit him. Fuerst was trying to turn right onto East Lima Street at the time.

Russel went to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Officers cited Fuerst for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
