Fostoria Officer Injured Breaking Up Scuffle

4/8/19 – 6:41 A.M.

Three people were involved in a scuffle in Fostoria over the weekend that sent one man to the hospital and injured a police officer. Officers responded to a West Lytle Street location just before 3:30 a.m. on a report of a drunk man yelling in the area. 45 minutes later they had to come back.

Officers had to separate two men. The incident sent one of the men to the hospital. An officer also received treatment.

31-year-old Justin Johnson faces counts of assault, disorderly conduct, and resisting arresting causing harm to a law enforcement officer.

More Roads Closed In Findlay This Week For Various Projects

4/8/19 – 5:25 A.M.

You’ll see one new road project in Findlay this week. Crews will close the intersection of Lima Avenue and Summit Street today for waterline replacement work.

Elsewhere, you’ll continue to see roadwork in familiar locations. The westbound lane of Production Drive and the eastbound lane of Industrial Drive remain closed to traffic. If you’re trying to get into Tall Timbers you’ll need to use Production Drive. To get out you’ll have to use Industrial Drive.

A waterline replacement project will continue to close Summit Street from Lima Avenue to Lima Street during work hours. Stanford Parkway is also closed for a waterline replacement between Westfield Drive and River Road.

New curb replacement projects will close Scarlet Oak between Saratoga Drive and the cul-de-sac, and Hardin Street between Western Avenue and Cory Street. Curb replacement is also closing Fox Run Road between Saratoga Drive and Greendale Avenue and on Greendale Avenue from Bright Road to Fox Run Road.

Two Injured In Putnam County Motorcycle Crash

4/8/19 – 5:15 A.M.

A Saturday night motorcycle crash injured a Defiance couple in Putnam County. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says 72-year-old Charles Murray was riding west on State Route 15 near Road G-14 around 7:15 p.m. when he lost control and hit a tree.

Continental EMS took Murray to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima for treatment. His passenger, 69-year-old Mary Murray suffered moderate injuries. A medical helicopter took her to St. Rita’s for treatment.

Charles and Mary were not wearing helmets.

Hancock County Motorcycle Crash Injures Upper Sandusky Man

4/8/19 – 5:07 A.M.

A motorcycle crash injured an Upper Sandusky man in Hancock County Saturday night. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on State Route 37 near Township Road 234 just after 6:30 p.m.

22-year-old Riker Scott was riding his Harley-Davidson north on Route 37 when he lost control on a curve. Hanco EMS treated him at the scene of the crash, and then a friend took him to Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Deputies cited Scott for failure to control. He was not wearing a helmet.

State Patrol Urges Teens To Practice Safety behind The Wheel

04/05/19 – 7:52 P.m.

It’s getting close to prom season and the Ohio State Highway Patrol wants teens to be safe. According to the Patrol, from 2016 through 2018, there were more than 132,000 traffic crashes in Ohio involving at least one teen driver. Teens were at fault in 71% of those crashes.

The patrol said to make sure you aren’t driving impaired or distracted to help keep the roads safe. They will also be practicing high visibility enforcement.

Residents Can Drop Hazardous Household Materials Off At Litter Landing In Findlay

04/05/19 – 7:09 P.M.

Litter Landing in Findlay is all set to accept hazardous household materials from residents of Hancock County. Litter Landing director Courtney Comstock said they’ll take the items that you can’t properly dispose of yourself.

Comstock said this doesn’t include dangerous items like ammunition. All of the items that can be taken will be processed and, if they’re able to, recycled. You can drop items off every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until August.

Fostoria Man Charged For Sex Crimes Involving Two Teenage Girls

04/05/19 – 4:08 P.M.

A Fostoria man was arrested earlier this week after he was accused of sex-related crimes involving two teenage girls. The Advertiser-Tribune reports 21-year-old Brandon Lane faces two counts of sexual battery and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The alleged victims are 14-year-old girls.

The newspaper reports that the girls worked at the McDonald’s in Fostoria where Lane is the manager. The girls told law enforcement that Lane provided them with alcohol at his residence in late March.

Lane’s bond was set at $100,000 with a 10% allowance. The $10,000 was posted.

Lima hosting Meeting About Nuisance Geese

04/05/19 – 2:35 P.M.

An educational program is coming up next Wednesday about nuisance geese. The meeting is for anyone that is interested. It will feature wildlife professionals that will go over ways to prevent nuisance geese and what to do if you have them.

The program will be at the Lima Park District in Lima at 6 p.m. It is free and no preregistration is required.
