Findlay Man Pleads Guilty To Reckless Homicide

4/10/19 – 5:16 A.M.

A Findlay man has pleaded guilty to a reckless homicide charge stemming from the suffocation death of his infant son last year. 27-year-old Jack Killion appeared in court Tuesday to enter his plea. He remains out of jail until his sentencing on May 20th. He faces three years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Killion put his 3-month-old son in bed with him on the morning of March 1 of 2018. Prosecutor Phil Riegle says Killion was sleeping next to the child in a way that caused an accidental suffocation. Last week Reigle said that there was evidence that Killion had used drugs before going to sleep.

Suspect In Arlington Hatchet Attack Arraigned

4/10/19 – 5:06 A.M.

The man who allegedly is responsible for a hatchet attack in Arlington last week is now officially facing charges. The Hancock County grand jury has indicted 37-year-old Brandon Pinks on charges of attempted murder, possessing criminal tools, tampering with evidence, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. Prosecutor Phil Riegle says there “absolutely be more charges” filed in the coming weeks.

Investigators say Pinks was dating Breanna Lemos. They believe the two got into an argument. Pinks also allegedly attacked Lemos’ daughter Arianna Teague. All three of them lived in a home at 219 West Main Cross Street in Arlington.

Pinks allegedly took Lemos’ car after the attack and drove to Hardin County. He remains in jail on a $250,000 bond.

Findlay Mayor Candidate Addresses Reports Of Sign Obstruction

04/09/19 – 6:37 P.M.

Findlay Mayoral Candidate Brian Robertson wanted to set the record straight about a campaign sign that made the front page of The Courier on Saturday. Robertson said that the article made mention that a sign at the corner of Glessner Avenue and Sandusky Street had not been moved since it’s publication. He explained that he called campaign volunteers to get it moved a few hours after getting the notice.

Backyard Mission Trip Kicks Off April 27

04/09/19 – 6:28 P.M.

The Backyard Mission Trip in Findlay will be kicking off later this month. Becky Greeno said that it isn’t too late to volunteer to help out in the community and that they’ll take anyone.

Habitat for Humanity’s Wendy McCormick said that they have over 250 projects that need to be done.

Work Announced Around I-75 Thursday

04/09/19 – 12:16 P.M.

I-75 north of County Road 99 in Findlay will see some temporary stops Thursday morning. Crews from Charter Communications will be installing a cable line below the interstate. The work will take place between 8 a.m. and noon but should only affect I-75 for about 15 minutes in each direction. Local law enforcement will provide traffic control.

Hancock County Needs More Foster Families

There are currently more than 90 children in Hancock County in custody of the Department of Job and Family Services. JFS Director Randy Galbraith says that’s putting a big strain on his office, and on the number of available foster families in the area…

The Department of Job and Family Services honored area foster families during their “Everyday Heroes” event at St. Andrews in Findlay Tuesday morning.

Galbraith says that looked into more than 1,500 reports of abuse and neglect last year. That resulted in the JFS opening more than 400 cases last year.

Unused Medication Collections Planned In Findlay

4/9/19 – 5:31 A.M.

The Hancock County Opioids and Addiction Task Force is hosting a medication collection day this weekend. You can drop off unused medications at 50 North on East Melrose Avenue from 9 a.m until 11 a.m.

On April 27th the group will hold another collection event in the parking lot of the Findlay Municipal Building. That event will run from 9 a.m. until noon.

Allen County Teen Arrested After Alleged School Threat

4/9/19 – 5:26 A.M.

Authorities arrested an Allen County teenager after he allegedly threatened a school shooting. WLIO-TV reports the teen allegedly made threats against Delphos St. Johns High School on social media. The boy now faces an inducing panic charge.

Sheriff’s deputies and Delphos police officers searched the suspect’s locker but didn’t find anything suspicious.

Marathon Buying Gas Stations In Western New York

4/9/19 – 5:19 A.M.

Marathon Petroleum’s Speedway brand continues to grow. CSP Daily News cites a Buffalo Business First report that says Marathon is buying 37 NOCO Energy Company locations in western New York. The report says Marathon will rebrand the stations under the Speedway banner.

The companies haven’t disclosed terms of the deal. They expect it will close by late spring.

State Representative Bill Reineke Announces State Senate Bid

4/9/19 – 5:12 A.M.

State Representative Bill Reineke is running for a State Senate seat next year. Reineke announced his candidacy Monday morning at the Fostoria Learning Center.

The 26th Senate District includes Seneca, Wyandot, Sandusky, Crawford, Marion, Morrow, and Union counties. David Burke currently serves as the State Senator for the district, but can’t run for re-election because of term limits.

Reineke says he has voted for smaller, more efficient government as a member of the Ohio House. He says that as a senator he would work on job development and finding more money for education.
