North Baltimore Man Killed During Drug Deal In Dayton

A North Baltimore man died after a man shot him during an apparent drug deal in Dayton. The Dayton Daily News reports 26-year-old Marcus Brigham Jr. allegedly shot 37-year-old Diamond Carlton several times late Monday night.

EMTs took Carlton to a Dayton-area hospital where he later died.

Dayton police Sgt. Michael Godsey tells the newspaper Carlton and three other people including his girlfriend drove to Dayton to buy drugs when gunfire broke out. Officers say no one else was injured.

Brigham faces a murder charge.

Findlay Council Approves Rezone Of Adams And Putnam Streets Property

Findlay City Council passed legislation rezoning an area on Adams and Putnam Streets. Area residents have voiced concerns that the rezoning of the area to M2 multi-family would create congestion and ruin the neighborhoods aesthetics. They had also talked about an increase in traffic.

The developer showed updated possible plans where they had made concessions. The plans included less units, more green space, and shorter buildings. Many residents were still concerned with how the project will affect traffic.

Majority of council passed the legislation but Councilwoman Holly Frische said there should be more discussion and voted against the measure

Findlay City Council Discusses Housing Needs With Economic Development

Findlay City Council got an update on economic development during a Tuesday meeting. Hancock County Economic Development director Tim Mayle said that they will be focusing on housing.

Mayle said that they have managed to secure some developers.

He added that Economic Development will leverage resources to form partnerships and create incentives for developers.

He added that they will also need to continue marketing Findlay.

Hancock County Commissioner Brian Robertson Joins Race To Be Findlay’s Next Elected Mayor

The race for the Findlay Mayor’s seat got a little more crowded on Tuesday. Current Hancock County Commissioner Brian Robertson announced that he filed the petitions and will be on the ballot come May…

Robertson will be going up against current Findlay City Councilwoman Holly Frische and Pain Management Group director of business and physician development Christina Muryn.

2019 Chili Cook-Off For Cancer Patient Services Is This Saturday

You can stop by the Annual Chili Cook-Off this weekend to support Cancer Patient Services of Hancock County. Carol Metzger said that the event will raise funds for the services they offer.

Metzger said that they will have 20 different teams making chili this year. The event will be at the University of Findlay Koehler Center from 4:30 -8 p.m. this Saturday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 6 – 12 years old.

Litter Landing Will Start Accepting Glass Again This Year

Litter Landing will start accepting glass again later this year. The Hancock County Commissioners have voted to spend around $4,400 for a roll-off unit to house the glass. Commissioner Tim Bechtol says they want to drive up awareness first…

Bechtol says right now there’s no timeline in place for when Litter Landing will starting taking glass again.

The facility stopped accepting glass in July of 2016 because of falling commodity prices.

Replacement Named For Former State Senator Randy Gardner

State Representative Theresa Gavarone of Bowling Green will fill the Ohio Senate seat left open by former State Senator Randy Gardner. Gardner recently stepped down to accept an appointment as the chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof announced Gavarone’s appointment after a screening committee recommended her. Gavarone will fill the rest of Gardner’s term, which runs through the end of 2020.

The House Republican Caucus will appoint a screening committee to consider applicants to fill the rest of Gavarone’s term in the Ohio House.

Marathon Names New Executive Officer

Marathon Petroleum has named a new executive officer. The company recently appointed Speedway senior vice president and COO Glenn Plumby to the same position for Marathon.

Marathon CEO Gary Heminger says Plumby played a large role in Speedway’s growth over the last few years. He added, “Glenn has gained enormous expertise in our retail business during more than 37 years of dedicated service, making him a welcome addition to our senior management team.”
