Cooper Opens New Facility In Mississippi

The Findlay based Cooper Tire and Rubber Company has a new facility in Mississippi. The 1 million-square-foot warehouse is a leased facility and employs about 100 workers. It is the largest distribution center for Cooper nationwide.

Cooper says that the building offers more flexibility because it is centrally located between its three U.S. tire manufacturing plants. It allows Cooper to efficiently consolidate and distribute products directly to customers as well as supply its regional distribution centers. The warehouse has the capacity to expand to an additional 400,000 square feet as needed in the future.

Prostitution Bust Leads To The Arrests Of 7 Women

The Hancock County METRICH Drug Task Force Held a covert prostitution investigation. The investigation was done in the City of Findlay and lead to the arrest of 7 women. All of the women face prostitution charges but one also faces a possession of cocaine charge.

Hancock Public Health Has Plenty Of Flu Vaccines Left

11/16/18 – 3:23 P.M.

Sandusky County recently ran out of flu vaccine doses but Hancock County is still going strong. Hancock Public Health’s Tatum Weber reports that there are still plenty of doses.

She added that there are 10 doses of high dose for people over 65-years-old and 100 doses for children. She said that they can also get more if it is needed.

West Virginia Teen Takes Parents Car, Caught Near Carey

11/16/18 – 5:27 A.M.

Wyandot County Sheriff’s deputies took a 14-year-old West Virginia boy into custody Wednesday, after they found him driving his parents’ Cadillac near Carey. OnStar contacted the sheriff’s office around 7 p.m. to let them know the teen had taken the car and was driving on U.S. 23 in northern Wyandot County.

A deputy found the boy at a rest stop, where he had stopped to get a candy bar. The boy said he left his home because his parents didn’t want him. He added he was driving to see relatives in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Deputies took him back to the sheriff’s office where they got him a burger and fries. The teen’s mother and uncle drove to Upper Sandusky to pick him up.

Fostoria Assessing Damage From Airport Hangar Fire

11/16/18 – 5:17 A.M.

Officials in Fostoria are waiting for information from an insurance adjuster before they start the process of rebuilding an airport hangar. A fire destroyed the hangar, along with two airplanes and several motorcycles Sunday night. Mayor Eric Keckler says there isn’t a damage estimate yet.

An insurance adjuster visited the site Tuesday, and the state fire marshal’s office continues to investigate.

Keckler says the hangar served as the main repair shop. He adds he sure they’ll rebuild it.

Woman Suffers Minor Injuries After Deer Hits Car

11/16/18 – 4:59 A.M.

A Thursday morning crash injured a Findlay woman. The Findlay Police Department says 59-year-old Wanda Suman was driving west on Fostoria Avenue around 6:45 a.m. when a deer ran into the side of her car.

The collision broke the driver’s side window, resulting in minor cuts and scrapes to Suman. She did not need to go to the hospital for treatment.

The deer survived the crash and ran away.

County Commissioners Appoint Interim Engineer

11/15/18 – 12:37 P.M.

Doug Cade will officially become the Hancock County Engineer on Saturday. The Hancock County Commissioners appointed Cade to the interim role during their Thursday meeting. Current engineer Chris Long announced he was stepping down due to health concerns late last month.

Cade has served as the deputy county engineer since 2015.

The engineer’s position is an elected role. Because Long is a Republican the Hancock County GOP gets to pick the replacement to fill the rest of his term. They have 45 days to make their pick.

Weather Forces Cancellations At FHS

11/15/18 – 12:13 P.M.

Today’s winter weather has forced the cancellation of several events at Findlay High School. A dinner for veterans set for this evening is canceled. They haven’t set a makeup date yet.

The Pops Symphony Orchestra concert will now be at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the R. L. Heminger Auditorium at Findlay High School.

Parent-teacher conferences are now November 29. Scheduled conferences will be automatically moved to that date unless parents tell the school otherwise.

Hancock County 4-H Volunteers Honored, More Needed

Volunteers in the Hancock County 4-H program recently received recognition for their efforts throughout the year. Cassie Anderson with the Hancock County Extension tells WFIN’s Chris Oaks they have some long-serving help…

Anderson says 4-H has more than 170 volunteers throughout the county. They do everything from help run chapters to behind the scenes organizational tasks.
