So far there’s no word on what caused a fire in a hangar at the Fostoria Metro Airport from over the weekend. Several fire departments responded to the airport around 9 p.m. Saturday. Fostoria Fire Division Chief Brian Herbert says the hangar workshop was already consumed by flames when they arrived. Firefighters entered through an office to make sure no one was inside but had to back out of the building quickly.
The blaze destroyed two airplanes and several motorcycles.
The Kansas, Risingsun, Bascom, Tiffin, and Findlay fire departments all provided help. Firefighters from Findlay manned a Fostoria fire station while the Fostoria firefighters battled the flames.
