U.S. Senator Rob Portman stopped in Findlay on Wednesday to update on issues facing the nation. Portman said that the nation has seen a 40% increase in growth since congress approved the Tax Reform bill. He added that this is helping families.
Portman said that Ohio families in particular felt this pressure. He explained that easing taxes allowed companies to offer better wages and more incentives. He added that the tax reform also increased revenues.
Portman also addressed the opioid epidemic. Portman said that Congress had a study done on Fentanyl coming through the U.S. mail system.
Portman siad he is authoring a bill to help address this issue. It will require the post office to screen packages for opioids such as Fentanyl. Portman said that this will help keep the drug harder to get.
