Carey’s school board is urging residents to vote in favor of an upcoming renewal levy. The board talked about the 1 percent, five-year income tax that’s on the ballot on November 6 during their Monday meeting. Administrators say money from the tax pays for things like utilities, supplies, and salaries among other items.
The levy generates more than $1 million for district operations. The current five-year tax expires at the end of 2019. Voters first approved the tax in 2004 and have renewed it each time it has come up for a vote again.
