Chick-fil-A Grand Opening Include Community Service Road Trip

9/4/18 – 9:52 A.M.

Findlay’s Chick-fil-A location is kicking off their new location with a day of service Wednesday. The first 100 people in line at the store at 1931 Tiffin Avenue Wednesday morning won’t only win free Chick-fil-A for a year, but they’ll also take part in community service projects in the city.

Registration starts at 6 a.m. The first 100 people to register will take part in projects for Habitat for Humanity and the City Mission of Findlay. The “Grand Opening Road Trip” will last until around 3 p.m., when the group will come back to Chick-fil-A for a party outside the store.

The Findlay Chic-fil-A location officially opens Thursday morning.

Liberty-Benton Offers To Buy Land South Of High School

The Liberty-Benton school district wants to buy land south of the high school. During a Tuesday morning board meeting, the board voted to offer $115,000 for 10 acres of land along Hancock County Road 9. The district doesn’t have any specific plans for the land just yet.

Superintendent Mark Kowalski called it “prudent” to buy the land.

The Larry Porter Living Trust owns the property in question. It’s part of a 40-acre parcel across the street from Gateway Church. The land has had a for sale sign in front of it for a few months.

Local Gas Prices Down From Last Week

9/4/18 – 6:54 A.M.

Local gas prices are down as we start the Labor Day-shortened work week. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Findlay is $2.66 today. That’s down 13 cents from last Tuesday.

Drivers in Ottawa are paying $2.67 per gallon. That a two-cent decline over the last week.

Local prices are below the state average, standing at $2.71 per gallon. That’s a 10 cent decline over the last seven days.

Hardin County Fair Starts Today

9/4/18 – 6:48 A.M.

The Hardin County Fair kicks off in Kenton today. The event runs through Sunday and features country artist Dylan Scott as the headline performer in the grandstand this year. Scott performs Saturday night, along with music duo Brown & Gray.

Other grandstand events this year include harness racing on Thursday, a truck and tractor pull Friday night, and a demolition derby on Sunday.

Daily admission to the fair is $9 for those ages 9 and over.

Seneca County METRICH Enforcement Searches Fostoria Apartment

9/4/18 – 6:42 A.M.

Law enforcement in Seneca County raided a home in Fostoria late last week. The Review-Times reports officers searched an apartment at 430 North Main Street Friday. Officers with the Seneca County Drug Task Force-METRICH Enforcement Unit say they found suspected crack cocaine and marijuana in the apartment. They also found cash, criminal tools, and evidence of drug trafficking.

Charges are pending in the case.

Findlay Woman Injured In Two-Car Crash

9/4/18 – 5:26 A.M.

A two-car crash injured a Findlay woman Sunday morning. The Findlay Police Department reports the crash happened at the intersection of East Edgar and Washington avenues around 10:30 a.m.

60-year-old Bonnie Kirk had stopped at the intersection, but then pulled into the path of a truck driven by 31-year-old Justin Endicott of Findlay. Hanco Ambulance took Kirk to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Officers cited Kirk for failure to yield.

One Person Injured In Sunday Night Motorcycle Crash

9/4/18 – 5:18 A.M.

A motorcycle crash sent one person to the hospital in Findlay Sunday night. The Findlay Police Department says the crash happened at the intersection of South Blanchard and East Sandusky streets around 6:10 p.m.

59-year-old Kevin Ammons was riding south on Blanchard Street when he laid his motorcycle down to avoid a car that had stopped to turn onto Sandusky. Hanco Ambulance took Ammons to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of lacerations.

The crash remains under investigation.

Motorcycle Crash Injures Two East Of Findlay

9/4/18 – 5:11 A.M.

A motorcycle crash injured two people east of Findlay over the weekend. The State Highway Patrol says a motorcycle driven by 54-year-old Chris Zeigler of McCutchenville collided with a car driven by 87-year-old Donald Kendrick of Findlay. The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 224 and Marion Township Road 237 just before 4 p.m. Sunday.

Kendrick was driving north on Road 237 when he pulled into the path of Zeigler’s motorcycle. Hanco Ambulance took Zeigler and his passenger, 51-year-old Tammy Browning, to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers cited Kendrick for failure to yield.

Repaving Work Continues In Putnam County

9/4/18 – 5:04 A.M.

Road work continues in parts of Putnam County this week. You’ll see crews on State Route 65 in areas between Leipsic and the Henry County line. State Route 109 between Leipsic and the Henry County line is also reduced to one lane in some areas for repaving.

ODOT is also restricting State Route 634 in Continental to one lane for the installation of curb ramps and sidewalks.

Roads Work Continues On Several Highway In Hancock County This Week

9/4/18 – 5:00 A.M.

Several road projects continue in Hancock County this week. U.S. 68 in Arlington remains closed between Liberty Street and the Buck Run bridge. State Route 330 over State Route 15 in Vanlue also remains closed for bridge deck replacement.

Crews continue to restrict State Route 330 to one lane between North Street in Vanlue and State Route 568 for a resurfacing project. You’ll also see lane reductions on State Route 568 between Bright Road in Findlay and the Wyandot County line.

Work also continues this week on parts of State Route 613 between Van Buren and the Putnam County line for berm repair.
