Sycamore Woman Injured In Weekend Crash

9/18/18 – 7:12 A.M.

A rollover crash injured a Sycamore woman over the past weekend. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened on State Route 103 around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

46-year-old Jodie Magnusson was driving west near 7751 State Route 103 when she went off the road. She over-corrected and came back across the road, where she hit a ditch and overturned.

Sycamore EMS took Magnusson to Wyandot Memorial Hospital for treatment of incapacitating injuries. Deputies cited her for driving under the influence.

One Person Injured In Weekend Crash On I-75

9/18/18 – 6:46 A.M.

A semi and a car collided on I-75 in southern Hancock County over the weekend. The State Highway Patrol says the crash happened in the southbound lanes of the interstate near State Route 235 around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.

78-year-old Richard Adams of Cincinnati was driving south when he hit the back of a semi driven by 45-year-old Jeffrey Black of Canada. Hanco EMS took Adams to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of incapacitating injuries.

Troopers cited Adams for failure to maintain an assured clear distance.

Arlington Still Looking For Repairs To Start On Fire-Damaged Home

9/18/18 – 5:33 A.M.

An Arlington resident is still waiting for someone to fix a fire-damaged home in the village. Mike Best lives next to the home on North Main Street. He told council it’s been 18 months since the fire happened and no one has attempted to do anything. Best says the building is deteriorating and now has holes for animals to get into it.

Village Solicitor Don Rasmussen says he will send a letter to the person who owns the damaged home.

Putnam County Man Injured in ATV Crash

9/18/18 – 5:25 A.M.

An ATV crash critically injured a Putnam County man Monday night. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened west of Vaughnsville on State Route 189 around 7:20 p.m.

John Fisher was riding an ATV on Route 189 about a half mile east of Road 17 when he swerved to avoid an animal. He lost control and wrecked. The impact of the crash threw Fisher from the ATV, causing injuries to his head and lower body. He was not wearing a helmet.

A medical helicopter took Fisher to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima where he is in critical condition.

Variety Of Projects Closing Roads In Findlay This Week

9/18/18 – 5:18 A.M.

Plenty of road work projects are continuing in Findlay this week. The city says you’ll continue to see lane reductions on South Main Street between Lima Street and Woodley Avenue. Resurfacing work is also taking place on Summit Street between Lima Avenue and Stadium Drive, Ventura Drive from County Road 99 to Main Street, and Milton Avenue between Bernard and Hull avenues.

The city is closing roads for waterline work on Concord Court from Parkside Place to Vincent Street and Woodworth Drive between Fostoria Avenue and Glen Meadow. You’ll also see waterline work on Garfield Avenue and George Street between Crystal Avenue and the railroad tracks, as well as Hull Avenue from Vincent Street to Balsley Avenue.

Crews are working on storm sewers on Midland and Allen avenues between Blanchard Street and the railroad tracks.

Gas line repairs are closing the first alley east of Main Street between Sandusky and Crawford streets.

The projects are closing the roads during work hours. You should avoid the areas is possible.

Four-Way Stops Installed At East Main Street And Osborn Avenue

9/18/18 – 4:58 A.M.

The city of Findlay has made a change at an intersection near the Osborn Avenue bridge. A post on the mayor’s Facebook Page says the intersection of Osborn Avenue and East Main Cross is now a four-way stop. The post says the city decided to make the change because of visibility issues with traffic coming over the bridge.

The county replaced the Osborn Avenue bridge last year. They expected the project to improve sight lines in the area. The project also removed an underpass under the bridge in part because the drivers of box trucks kept hitting the bottom of the structure.

Voting Rights Expert Spoke At The University Of Findlay

09/17/18 – 9:21 P.M.

The University of Findlay featured an expert on voting rights for a free presentation. Mike Brickner from All Voting is Local said that Americans should be aware of their rights.

He said that his organization works to make sure people know what they can do and where they can go.

Brickner said that this can be fixed by making the polls easier to work through. He explained that when polls are poorly staffed or volunteers aren’t trained, it causes lines and confusion. He said that they are working to recruit volunteers like high school students to work the polls to make voting easy.

Local Agencies Prepping The Elderly For Disasters Through Local Presentation

09/17/18 – 6:20 P.m.

It’s National Preparedness Month and local organizations want to help the elderly prepare for emergencies. The North Central Ohio Chapter of the Red Cross, Area Agency on Aging 3, and the Hancock County Emergency Management Agency are teaming up. They will present a free disaster preparedness training for older adults. The presentation will be based around getting a kit ready, making a plan, and being informed. Attendees will get a Red Cross Disaster Preparedness Backpack holding the basic supplies for a home emergency kit.

The training is only available to people over 50 and will be at 1 p.m. on September 28th at 50 North. Only the first 50 people to sign up will get into the event.

Boil Advisory In Place For Several Findlay Streets

09/17/18 – 6:08 P.M.

The City of Findlay has issued a boil water advisory for several streets. The Water Department issued the advisory for the 1000 – 1100 blocks of South Blanchard Street. The advisory also affects the 500 and 600 blocks of Second Street, and the 900, 1000, and 1100 blocks of park street.

The advisory is due to water main repair work on South Blanchard and Second Streets. If you live in the affected areas then boil your water for at least a minute before using it.
