Seneca County Fair Starts Today

The Seneca County Fair kicks off in Tiffin today. The six-day event includes tractor pulls, harness racing, a pig scramble, KOI Drag Racing, and a concert by country singer Bucky Covington this year.

Today is junior fair day. It includes the king and queen contest at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night brings drag racing to the grandstands, and country music headlines the event on Friday night.

Fostoria Man Charged With Unlawful Sexual Contact With A Minor

7/23/18 – 7:42 A.M.

A Fostoria man charged with having unlawful sexual contact with a minor will have a preliminary hearing this week. Authorities accuse 22-year-old Levi Jo Corbin of having sex with a 15-year-old girl. The Review-Times reports Corbin told police he was intoxicated at the time and thought the girl was 18 years old.

Police say the incident happened on July 10.

A judge in the case set bond at $50,000 cash or surety.

Weekend Crash Critically Injures One In Southern Hancock County

7/23/18 – 6:54 A.M.

A Saturday crash seriously injured one person southeast of Bluffton. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after 9 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 30 and County Road 12.

The driver of a pickup truck was driving south on Road 12 when they failed to stop for a stop sign and hit a car.

The driver of the pickup was in critical condition Sunday at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. The driver of the other car and four passengers received treatment at the scene of the crash.

The sheriff’s office hasn’t released the names of the people involved in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE: Putnam County Woman Killed In Weekend Crash

7/23/18 – 6:44 A.M.

A two-car crash in Putnam County killed one person and injured three others Sunday afternoon. The State Highway Patrol reports the crash happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Road E and Road 22 near Continental.

58-year-old Cindy Adams of Oakwood was driving on Road E when she stopped at the intersection. She then pulled into the path of a car driven by 16-year-old Mikayla Mayes of Lexington, Kentucky. The State Patrol reports Adams died as a result of her injuries. She wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Mayes and three passengers received treatment at the scene of the crash.

Repaving Work Continues In Putnam County

7/23/18 – 5:36 A.M.

Roadwork projects continue in Putnam County this week. State Route 65 is down to one lane in areas between Leipsic and the Henry County line for repaving work. State Route 109 between Leipsic and the Henry County line is also seeing lane reductions for repaving.

A resurfacing project on State Route 613 between Leipsic and Continental has the highway restricted to one lane in some spots.

Road Work Planned On Three Findlay Streets This Week

7/23/18 – 5:31 A.M.

Roadwork continues on three Findlay roads this week. The city says Fishlock Avenue remains closed to through traffic between Sandusky Street and Blanchard Avenue. Residents have access to their homes during the reconstruction process. The road is open one way to the south during non-work hours.

Southbound traffic on South Main Street is down to one lane between Lima Street and Sixth Street for curb work.

The city has also closed West Hardin Street to through traffic between Cory Street and Western Avenue for curb replacement.

Roadwork Slated For Hancock County Roads This Week

7/23/18 – 5:25 A.M.

There are a few roadwork projects going on in Hancock County this week not connected to the I-75 widening project. ODOT says crews will reduce I-75 southbound to two lanes between Wood County and State Route 613 for guardrail repair.

State Route 103 is down to one lane in some areas between Bluffton and State Route 698 to prepare for a chip seal project. Crews are reducing eastbound State Route 15 west of Vanlue to one lane for guardrail repair this week.

Elsewhere, U.S. 68 in Arlington remains closed between Liberty Street and the Buck Run bridge. State Route 330 over State Route 15 in Vanlue also remains closed for bridge deck replacement.

I-75 Widening Project Calls For Overnight Lane Restrictions This Week

7/23/18 – 5:16 A.M.

You’ll see some overnight lane restrictions in the construction zone on I-75 this week. ODOT says crews will restrict the northbound side of the interstate to one lane between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. through July 25. They’re installing bridge beams over the mainline lanes during those times.

You’ll also see temporary stoppages on the interstate between midnight and 5 a.m. over the next two days for the same project.
