Findlay Issues Boil Water Advisory For Several Addresses

There is a boil water advisory for an avenue in Findlay. The Findlay Water Distribution Department issued the advisory in the area around Connell Avenue. This includes addresses on First Street, Blanchard Avenue, Fishlock Avenue, Amelia Avenue, Lippincott Avenue, and Connell Avenue. You can find the complete list of affected addresses below.

You should boil your water for at least a minute before using it for cooking, drinking, or oral hygiene.

Affected Addresses:

1027 First Street

1510 Blanchard Avenue

1300 Fishlock Avenue

1100 Block of Amelia Avenue

1500 and 1600 blocks of Lippincott Avenue

1500, 1600, and 1700 blocks of Connell Avenue

Stantec Engineering To Present 100 Page Flood-Control Recommendation Review

Stantec Engineering is releasing its updated review of its Blanchard River flood-control recommendations Tuesday. The Courier reports that the 100-page draft report will be made available Tuesday morning at hancockcountyflooding.com. This will follow a presentation to the Maumee Watershed Conservancy District.

The meeting is open to the public and will be at 9 a.m. at the Defiance office. Project Manager Steve Wilson explained that they won’t have any hard copies for the public.

Fostoria Police Trying To Track Down Aggressive Dog

07/09/18 – 10:50 P.M.

Fostoria Police are looking for help finding a dog that attacked a woman’s family in June. The Review-Times reports that the dog attacked the woman’s dog in one attack and then attacked her, her son, and their puppy during a second attack. This left bruises on her son and fractured her hand.

Police Chief Keith Loreno said that it can be tough to find a dog in the city. He added that anyone with information on the dog to come forward. You should also take a picture of the dog if you can do so safely. You can reach the Fostoria Police Department at 419-435-8573.

The victim asked for the community’s help in finding the animal last Sunday. She added that this isn’t the first time she encountered the aggressive dog. Neighbors have also reported run-ins with the dog.

Carey Man Hurt In Weekend Motorcycle Accident

07/09/18 – 8:10 A.M.

A Carey man was hurt in a motorcycle accident Saturday evening. The Findlay Police Department reports that 52-year-old Keith Gault was riding his motorcycle in the 200 block of Crystal Avenue around 9:15 p.m. when he lost control on the railroad tracks.

Hanco EMS took Gault to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.

ODOT Closes I-75 Northbound Ramps At U.S. 224

07/09/18 – 5:18 A.M.

The I-75 exit and entrance ramps at U.S. 224 closed today for reconstruction. ODOT reports that the exit ramp will close for about 60 days. Traffic will be detoured to County Road 99, then south on Interstate 75 to U.S. 224.

The entrance ramp at U.S. 224 will close for about 30 days. Traffic will be detoured south on Interstate 75 to Ohio 12, then north on I-75.

U.S. 224 over I-75 and the southbound entrance and exit ramps will not be affected.

HATS Accident Sends One To Hospital

07/09/18 – 5:10 A.M.

A Findlay woman went to the hospital after an accident involving a HATS bus and a truck Friday. Findlay Police Department reports that the accident happened around 4:15 p.m. 71-year-old Joseph Ramsey was driving the HATS bus on West Main Cross Street when 64-year-old Paul Augsberger tried turning east onto the road at the I-75 exit ramp.

They crashed in the intersection. Hanco EMS took 81-year-old HATS passenger Phyllis Schultz to Blanchard Valley Hospital as a precaution.

Ramsey and Augsberger both claimed to have the green light. Officers didn’t issue any citations since there were no witnesses.

3rd Annual Flag City Daylily Tour Taking Place This Weekend

You can tour various Findlay gardens this weekend during the third annual Flag City Daylily Tour. Michael Anders has one of the stops. He said that he started growing daylilies after a trip back home to visit family.

Bluffton Woman Hurt In Two Car Crash

07/06/18 – 7:08 A.M.

An accident in Liberty Township sent a Bluffton woman to the hospital Thursday. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports that the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. at the State Route 12 and Township Road 139 intersection.

63-year-old Ronald Rettig from Rawson stopped on Township Road 139 at the intersection. He failed to see 71-year-old Paula Eck’s vehicle as he pulled onto State Route 12 and into her path.

Hanco EMS took Eck to Blanchard Valley Hospital. Her status is unknown. Officers cited Rettig for failure to yield from a stop sign.

New Scam Targeting Hardin County Businesses

07/06/18 – 6:43 A.M.

There is a new scam causing issues in Hardin County. WKTN radio reports that an imposter of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is calling people trying to collect money. Sheriff Keith Everhart said that the man is identifying himself as Kenneth Cook. He is calling businesses saying that individuals there have missed jury duty. The man then tells the victim that if they don’t pay they are going to jail.

Everhart said that this isn’t how these situations are handled. He added that there isn’t even a Kenneth Cook at the Sheriff’s Office.

He said that if you get a phone call like this, you should call the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office at 419-673-1286.

Men Wanted On Kidnapping And Rape Charges Involving Children In Bowling Green

07/06/18 – 5:28 A.M.

The Bowling Green Police Division is investigating an alleged kidnapping and sexual assault. The Sentinel-Tribune reports that the alleged victims are thirteen and fourteen-years-old. Police have arrested one suspect, Simon Juan of Guatemala, for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He is at the Wood County Justice Center.

There are three other suspects allegedly involved in the incident. Officers have identified them as David Ramos Conteras of Mexico, and Juan Garcia Rios Adiel and Arnulfo Ramos. Nationwide arrest warrants have been issued for the men on two counts of kidnapping and rape.
