Arcadia will have an armed school security director starting this school year. The school board voted to hire former Hancock County Sheriff’s deputy Tim Saltzman during their Wednesday meeting. They’ll pay Saltzman $48,000 per year for his services.
Board member Corey Boes abstained from voting on the issue. He wondered if the board had enough information to make a decision. Board member Eric Metcalfe said they need to try something and can make adjustments if they need to.
Saltzman is a former school resource officer in Hancock County.
