Findlay City Schools could be getting help from the city in the future to pay for officers to be stationed in schools. Findlay Mayor Lydia Mihalik said that she and Findlay City Schools Superintendent Ed Kurt have been discussing a collaborative security approach.
The city would help pay for 6 to 10 officers to put in the school. She added that there is a lot yet to discuss so there’s no decision to make yet.
If the officers were hired, she said that it would help the city when school lets out in the summer.
Mihalik said that this is part of a multi-pronged approach for school security. Aside from having officers stationed in schools, there are also plans to update security cameras and have in-school mental health officials.
