Southern Hancock County Residents Still Experiencing Issues With 911 Service

5/8/18 – 5:02 A.M.

Residents in southern Hancock County still don’t have access to 911 services this morning. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the issue first started Monday morning. It’s affecting people in Arlington, Jenera, and Mount Blanchard as well as rural residents in that area.

If you need to call 911 and get a busy signal, you should call 419-422-2424.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office reports residents in the Forest area are also having the same problem.

Body Found Submerged In Findlay Pond, Police Investigating as Potential Missing Persons

Findlay Police pulled a dead woman out of a car found in a pond at Owen’s Community College. The license plate matched that of a Clyde woman who has been missing since April 3rd. Police believe that the incident may be related to the missing persons reports for 70-year-old Charlene Robinson.

A positive identification could not be made. The Lucas County Coroner’s office will be performing an autopsy.

Findlay City Schools Still Recovering From Storm Last November

Findlay City School Board got an update on school repairs. Director of operations Dennis McPheron explained that they’ve been getting some work done but much of the work has to wait.

McPheron added that the insurance company has been very helpful and understanding. He explained that the storm in November had damaged some bolts for a drainage pipe in the Auxiliary Gym

McPheron said that this lead to the flooding of the locker rooms. He added that the insurance company was very understanding and admitted that this was due to the storm in November.

Jon Husted Stops In Findlay For Mike DeWine Campaign

Secretary of State Jon Husted made a stop at Rowmark in Findlay to campaign for the Lt. Governor’s seat. He said that he’s shown he can cut spending to save money and operate on less.

Husted is running alongside Gubernatorial candidate Mike DeWine. He said that DeWine will make a good governor because he cares.

Husted explained that he and DeWine want to cut government spending and focus on building the workforce, helping those in recovery, and easing the burden on taxpayers. He said Ohio should be a place where people want to live and companies want to be located.

Husted also urged people to go out and vote before they miss the election.

Marathon President Talks More About Merger With Andeavor

Marathon Petroleum Corporation President Don Templin spoke more about the company’s merger with Andeavor today. Templin says the companies are still sorting out the final details on how the combined company will look…

Templin said it was too early to speculate on if Andeavor employees would get transferred to Findlay.

Templin also talked about the future business outlook for Marathon. He said the merger puts the company in a good position to be a global competitor. Templin added that the demand for petroleum remains high, and more exports are possible in the future.

The deal will give Marathon a nationwide footprint…

Templin says after the merger completes, Marathon will grow from 1.9 billion barrels of crude capacity to 3 billion. It also means Marathon will have 16 total plants. Andeavor’s midstream business will increase Marathon’s pipeline mileage by around 50 percent. Marathon is also growing its number of terminals by around 30 percent.

The deal will increase the number of Marathon-branded gas stations to around 8,000. That’s up from the current 5,600 Marathon gas stations. The number of Speedway stations will grow from 2,800 to 4,000 stores.

Templin spoke at the Findlay Rotary Club this afternoon.

Local Gas Prices Down To Start The Week

Local gas prices have come down from last week’s high prices. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price for a gallon of regular is $2.61. That’s down 16 cents from last Monday. It’s also four cents cheaper than it was two weeks ago.

Prices in Findlay are below the state average, which sits at $2.65 per gallon. That’s a nine cent drop over the last seven days.

Prices in Ottawa stand at $2.69 per gallon. That’s up 10 cents from last Monday.

Mount Blanchard Prepares For Village Clean Up Day

Mount Blanchard residents are encouraged to help clean up the village this coming weekend. Activities will include cleaning the parks and pool area, planting flowers, mulching several areas, painting, and cleaning the streets. Volunteers are needed Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with lunch provided.

Volunteers should bring shovels, rakes, brooms, wheelbarrows, wagons and any painting supplies. For more information, you can call 419-306-3073.

The Beautification Committee, Mount Blanchard United Methodist Church Social Concerns, Mount Blanchard park board and the village of Mount Blanchard are sponsoring the event.

Berm Repair Projects Continue In Putnam County

5/7/18 – 5:19 A.M.

ODOT is continuing berm repair work along several Putnam County highways this week. The agency says you’ll see lane restrictions on U.S. 224 between Glandorf and Kalida again. Work is also taking place on State Route 115 between Kalida and State Route 15 and State Route 613 between the Hancock County line and Leipsic.

Other berm repair locations include State Route 613 between State Route 15 and the Paulding County line, State Route 634 between State Route 190 and U.S. 224, and State Route 694 between State Routes 114 and 115.

Road Work Continues In Findlay This Week

5/7/18 – 5:13 A.M.

You’ll see road work in familiar locations in Findlay this week. The city says crews are continuing a curb and sidewalk replacement project on Cory Street. The project is reducing Cory Steet to one lane between Sandusky Street and West Main Cross. The northbound lane of Cory Street is closed between Washington and High streets.

The city is reducing the southbound side of North Blanchard Street to one lane between Trenton and Melrose Avenues.

Park Street remains closed to through traffic between Lima and Hancock streets.
