New Gas Station Approved In Carey

4/13/18 – 5:17 A.M.

Site plans are in place, but Carey is still waiting on Casey’s General Store to buy the land approved for a new gas station on the edge of the village. The Progressor Times reports Casey’s hasn’t yet bought the property for its proposed convenience store near the U.S. 23 and State Route 15 interchange.

The plans call for 10 gas pumps and a convenience store with several food options. The site is across from the existing Shell gas station on the south side of the village.

I-75 Widening Project Will Result In Lane Restrictions Next Week

4/13/18 – 5:08 A.M.

The I-75 widening project will cause lane restrictions on the interstate next week. ODOT is reducing the north and southbound sides of I-75 to one lane between State Route 12 and U.S. 224 so crews can set beams for a new bridge over the Blanchard River. The work takes place between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. each day.

You’ll notice slowdowns and even stopped traffic in the construction zone for short amounts of time during the work. Crews will also occasionally close the southbound entrance ramp to I-75 from U.S. 224. ODOT is using the exit as a staging area for the work.

Litter Landing Ending 24-Hour Operation

4/13/18 – 4:57 A.M.

Litter Landing is ending 24-hour operation later this month. Courtney Comstock is the director of the facility and says security and safety concerns led to the decision. As a result, you’ll only be able to drop off recyclable material during staff hours.

Starting April 28, the new hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The new weekend hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Comstock says the new rules will also discourage people from dropping off unaccepted materials.

This Week Is National Telecommunicators Week, You’re Urged To Thank Emergency Dispatchers

This week is National Telecommunicators Week and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating its dispatchers. 911 coordinator Brad Brubaker said that dispatchers can have some very stressful calls.

Brubaker said that it takes a strong individual to try and keep things calm during an emergency. Brubaker said that sometimes dispatch calls can stick with the dispatcher.

Ohio Logistics Adding To Production Drive Facility

4/12/18 – 11:34 A.M.

Ohio Logistics is planning an expansion of its facility on Production Drive in Findlay. The city’s planning commission approved site plans for a 150,000 square foot warehouse addition during their Thursday meeting.

The company expects to break ground this spring and complete the building by early December. The new addition could mean up to 45 new jobs at the facility.

Plans In Place For Second Part Of Former Golden Corral Site In Findlay

Plans for a second retail space at the site of the former Golden Corral in Findlay are now in place. The Findlay City Planning Commission approved a site plan for a new 4,500 square foot building at 1843 Tiffin Avenue…

David Eskov of Klover Architects says the building will house two businesses. He said they hope to have the building built by the end of October.

The planned building is directly to the west of the Panda Express that’s under construction.

Ohio State Patrol Findlay Post And Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Partnering On Enforcement Effort

The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be helping the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office reduce fatal crashes. The Findlay Post reports that they will be conducting a one-month strict enforcement effort on Hardin County roads. The effort will focus on crash causing violations like following too close, lane violations, and failure to yield violations.

Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart said there have been four fatal crashes this year. The enforcement effort will start this Sunday.

One Injured In Fiery Crash South Of Fostoria

4/12/18 – 5:37 A.M.

A fiery two-car crash injured one person south of Fostoria Wednesday morning. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the collision happened at the intersection of State Route 587 and Township Road 112 around 10:35 a.m.

28-year-old Travell Coleman of Fostoria was driving west on Road 112 when he pulled into the path of a southbound car driven by 33-year-old Amber Payton of Fostoria. Coleman’s SUV caught on fire following the collision, but he was able to get out safely.

Bascom EMS took Payton to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies cited Coleman for a stop sign violation.

Tiffin Shooting Suspect Wrongly Identified

4/12/18 – 5:28 A.M.

Tiffin police are once again looking for a suspect in a shooting in the city. The Advertiser-Tribune reports investigators learned a man arrested Friday night was wrongly identified by one of the shooting victims. As a result, police released 23-year-old Hussein Mohamed of Grove City.

A family member of another man involved in the shooting told officers Mohamed wasn’t involved in the March 27 incident.

The newspaper says the name and description of the second suspect closely matched Mohamed.
