Josh Mandel Drops Out Of US Senate Race

01/05/18 – 4:15 P.M.

Josh Mandel has dropped out of the race to represent Ohio in the US Senate. According to a statement on his website, he is dropping out to be with his wife. He said that his wife as a health issue that will require his time, attention, and presence. He said he won’t go after any political campaigns until his wife is better.

Mandel added that he will continue to serve out the remainder of his term as State Treasurer.

New Phone Scam Lures You Into Long Distance Charges

01/05/18 – 3:28 P.M.

There’s a new phone scam going around saying you are getting served and asking you to call back for more information. Toledo Better Business Bureau President Dick Epstein said that you will get charged once they get you on hold.

Epstein said that these numbers come from other countries, typically countries in the Carribean Islands.

Three Injured In Crash Near Upper Sandusky

1/5/18 – 7:45 A.M.

A two-car crash injured three people west of Upper Sandusky Thursday afternoon. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office reports the collision happened at the intersection of county highways 108 and 330 just before 1 p.m.

29-year-old Charles Rayburn of Ridgeway was driving south on Highway 108 when he ran a stop sign and hit an SUV driven by 55-year-old Ronette Cheney of Upper Sandusky.

Upper Sandusky EMS took Rayburn, Cheney, and a passenger in Rayburn’s car to Wyandot Memorial Hospital for treatment of incapacitating injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Ada Police Looking For Robbery Suspect

1/5/18 – 7:27 A.M.

Police in Ada are looking for the public’s help in identifying a robbery suspect. A post on the department’s Facebook page says the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at the 302 Carryout. A white man wearing a dark blue hoodie and dark colored sweat pants got away from the business with an undisclosed amount of cash. He did not show a weapon.

Police say the man was around 5’10” with a heavy build. He had brown facial hair.

Fostoria Looking For Third Ward Council Representative

1/5/18 – 7:17 A.M.

The Third Ward council seat in Fostoria is vacant, and there’s a possibility it could stay that way. The Review-Times reports Jon Hay vacated the position on December 31 to focus on his position as the director of St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

Hay announced his resignation well before stepping down. Mayor Eric Keckler has looked for someone to replace Hay but hasn’t been successful. So far, no one has shown any interest in the council seat. City Law Director Tim Hoover says if no one applies to finish the term, the seat could stay empty.

Anyone interested in filling the vacancy must be 18 years of age or older, be a registered voter and live in the city’s Third Ward.

Crash Near Arcadia Injures One

1/5/18 – 6:52 A.M.

A two-car crash injured one person near Arcadia Thursday afternoon. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the collision happened around 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Hancock County Road 216 and Cass Township Road 243.

33-year-old Vanessa Garcia of Fostoria was driving south on Road 243 when she ran a stop sign at the intersection, hitting an eastbound car driven by 41-year-old Jason Jerew.

Hanco Ambulance took Jerew to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Deputies cited Garcia for failure to stop.

Findlay Woman Injured In Trenton Avenue Crash

1/5/18 – 6:44 A.M.

A two-car crash injured one person in Findlay Thursday afternoon. The Findlay Police Department reports 47-year-old Christine Decaro of Findlay was driving west in the 800 block of West Trenton Avenue around 4:15 p.m. when she hit the back of a car driven by 42-year-old Bijal Malaviya. Malaviya had stopped for traffic.

Hanco Ambulance took Decaro to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment. Police also cited her for failure to stop in an assured clear distance ahead.

Ottawa Man Injured In Crash Outside Findlay

1/5/18 – 5:27 A.M.

A collision between a car and truck on U.S. 224 west of Findlay injured an Ottawa man Thursday night. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the crash happened just after 8 p.m.

A truck driven by 52-year-old Ricky Robinson of Greenville, South Carolina was turning onto the highway from the Carpet Mart parking lot when it collided with a car driven by 25-year-old Cameron Kuhlman of Ottawa. Hanco Ambulance took Kuhlman to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Deputies cited Robinson for a marked lanes violation.

Four Arrested In Fostoria Drug Raids

1/5/18 – 5:17 A.M.

Four people are facing charges following drug raids at two Fostoria homes Thursday. The Seneca County Drug Task Force-METRICH Enforcement Unit says officers served search warrants at 210 Potter Street and 111 West Crocker Street. Authorities say they found suspected crack-cocaine, marijuana, cash, and criminal tools in the homes.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Antwantonyo Waites on a warrant out of Lucas County. They also took 42-year-old Brian Martin into custody. They both face trafficking in crack cocaine and possession of criminal tools charges.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Shela Long and 39-year-old Andre Holmes on warrants out of Findlay and Tiffin. They both face charges of trafficking in crack cocaine, permitting drug abuse, and possession of criminal tools.
