Sales tax receipts for Hancock County are down this month. The auditor’s office reports the county collected $1.16 million for January. That’s down from more than $1.3 million in 2017. In 2016, the county collected around $1.18 million.
Sales tax collections reflect sales from October of 2017. The state returns sales tax collections back to the county about three months after the actual sale takes place.
