Ottawa’s village council recently debated the expense of office equipment at the water treatment plant. The Putnam County Sentinel reports Council President David Michel asked why the table and four chairs cost $2,300. Public Works Supervisor Dan Lehman said it served as a conference table at the village’s water treatment plant.
Mayor Dean Meyer told council he wasn’t upset by the cost. He added that Water Director Doug Schroeder, “knows what he needs. I’m not going to micromanage what he does.” He went on to say, “If he’d run it by me, I’d give him my opinion, but that’s his baby. It’s coming out of his budget. He knows that budget is tight, so I’m going to trust him.”
Schroeder says the table is a functional tool where they map out plans every day and meet with the EPA.
