Columbus Grove Dedicates New Park

9/25/17 – 9:00 A.M.

Columbus Grove officials dedicated a new park in the village over the weekend. WLIO-TV reports the new park takes the place of a building damaged by the 2012 derecho. The owners decided to donate the building to the village.

Officials decided they didn’t want another parking lot, and instead raised money to build a small park in the downtown area.

Local Gas Prices Continue To Decline

9/25/17 – 9:00 A.M.

Local gas prices are lower as the new week begins. OhioGasPrices.com reports the average price in Findlay is $2.17 per gallon today. That’s an 11 cent decline over the last week. Prices in Findlay are down 21 cents over the last two weeks.

Drivers in Ottawa reporting paying $2.19 per gallon today. That’s down 10 cents over the last seven days.

Local prices are below the state average, which stands at $2.26 for a gallon of regular. That’s still down 9 cents from last Monday.

Two Injured In Three-Car Crash Northeast Of Findlay

9/25/17 – 8:00 A.M.

A three-car crash injured two people over the weekend in Hancock County. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the collision happened just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Marion Township, northeast of Findlay.

89-year-old Thelma Sparks of Lebanon, Ohio was driving south on Township Road 212 when she pulled in front of a westbound car on State Route 12 driven by 76-year-old Addie Moore of Fostoria. The collision spun the two cars into a third car driven by 29-year-old Victoria Wurm of Perrysburg.

Hanco EMS took Sparks and Moore to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Deputies cited Sparks for failure to yield.

Body Found In Fostoria Park

9/25/17 – 8:00 A.M.

A woman taking pictures in a Fostoria park found a hanging body over the weekend. The Fostoria Police Department says officers responded to the incident around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police Chief Keith Loreno says the woman found the body near the amphitheater in Portage Park. It appeared to have been a man in his 20s. The Wood County Coroner’s office will investigate the cause of death, but Loreno believes suicide was likely the case.

Police have not released the identity of the man.

Ohio EPA Mandates Action Plan For Pandora Waste Water Lagoons

9/25/17 – 7:00 A.M.

The Ohio EPA is telling Pandora to get its waste water treatment lagoons in line with state regulations. The Putnam County Sentinel reports the EPA recently investigated a complaint about the lagoons discharging green tinted water into Riley Creek. An investigator says he found algae growth in both of the village’s lagoons.

Pandora must put together an action plan to prevent the incident from happening again. If the village doesn’t, it faces administrative or civil fines from the EPA.

Pandora’s village council hired a Michigan company to help reduce phosphorus levels in the lagoon system. The village plans to work with the company to get a compliance plan in place.

Pavement Repair Underway In Putnam County

9/25/17 – 7:00 A.M.

Putnam County Drivers can expect to see road work on a few highways this week. ODOT says pavement repair is taking place in four locations. They include U.S. 224 throughout the entire county, State Route 613 from Route 108 to Route 65, State Route 694 just east of the intersection with Route 115, and State Route 114 in Kalida.

University Of Findlay Cancer Survivor Talks About Her Experience

09/23/17 – 1:40 P.M.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and one University of Findlay Student is helping to raise awareness. Sarah Ludinich is an ovarian cancer survivor and she said that the symptoms are common.

Ludinich said that her cancer was discovered when she found a tumor in her abdomen. She added that it is difficult to screen for ovarian cancer.

Three State Routes Back Open In Hancock County

9/25/17 – 6:00 A.M.

Several Hancock County roads are back open this week after recent closures. ODOT says State Route 12 east of Benton Ridge, State Route 103 east of Bluffton, and State Route 37 north of Houcktown are all open again.

You’ll see narrow lanes on I-75 northbound near County Road 99 in Findlay as pavement repair takes place. ODOT will also reduce lanes on Road 99 over I-75 for pavement repair this week. Reduced-width lanes continue on I-75 north of Bluffton for the replacement of the curb and guardrail.

One project will close a highway in the county this week. The work on the Route 186 overlap with Route 235 in McComb is now scheduled for Thursday. It will close the road for around five days.

Elsewhere you’ll see lane reductions on U.S. 224 from State Route 235 to Findlay, U.S. 224 from Findlay to Seneca County, and State Route 12 between Findlay and Fostoria.

ODOT expect lane closures on U.S. 68 between the airport and Eagle Creek to continue this week. Workers are installing a new cable median barrier in that area.

Heat Wave Won’t Eclipse Record Temperatures In Findlay

9/25/17 – 5:18 A.M.

It’s been a hot end to September, but we haven’t seen record highs. The highest temperatures got over the weekend was 91 degrees on Sunday. However, that was less than the record set for that day in 1908 at 93 degrees. Friday and Saturday’s hot temperatures also were a couple degrees below records set by the 1908 heat wave.

The 1908 highs for today and tomorrow are 97 degrees. While it will still be hot, we aren’t expected to eclipse those marks.

Temperatures will start to fall on Wednesday, getting back into the 60s by the end of the week.
