The Ohio Elections Commission decided not to take any action against the misfilings for Hancock County Commissioner Candidate William Bateson earlier this month. Hancock County Board of Elections chair Elizabeth Candler said that the board is upset at the lack of communication.
Candler said that commission should have shared their decision with the board. She added that they want to know why Bateson was cleared of the issues in his campaign report.

Findlay High School and Millstream Career Center teamed up with Raise The Bar to offer a career fair for students. Raise THe Bar director Laurie Zydonik said that it was to help students figure out their future.

Some of the employers present at the fair were Ohio Logistics, Kroger’s, and the Courier. Many of the booths were interactive to help students get a hands-on experience with the job.

Repair work on a water main in Findlay has caused the Water Distribution Department to issue a boil water advisory. The advisory is in effect for 800 Balsey Avenue as well as the 700 block of the avenue. It is also affecting the 900 block of McManness Avenue. You can find the complete list of addresses below.
You should boil water for at least a minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or oral hygiene. If You have any questions you can call the water distribution department at 419-424-7192.

A Findlay-based company is building a new facility in Bowling Green. The Sentinel-Tribune reports Ohio Logistics has plans for an $8.5 million warehouse and transportation building in the Wood-Bridge Business Park. The company is partnering with the WMOG/Mosser Group on the project.
Plans call for a 200,000 square foot building next to GKN Manufacturing. Ohio Logistics President Chuck Bills tells the newspaper the company plans to build two more 200,000-square-foot warehouse buildings in the future. He expects construction on the first building to finish in the spring of next year.
Bills says the company could hire up to 50 people within the next year.

A two-car crash injured four people in Jenera Tuesday night. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the collision happened on Main Street in the village around 6:15 p.m.
18-year-old Mikaela Ricksecker was driving south on the road when she tried to make a U-turn. A car driven by 31-year-old Joanelle Fry of Jenera then collided with Ricksecker. Appleseed EMS and Hanco Ambulance took both drivers and two passengers in Fry’s car to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
9/27/17 – 6:00 A.M.
A two-car crash injured a Findlay man late Tuesday afternoon. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says the collision happened at the intersection of Crystal and East Bigelow avenues just after 5 p.m.
78-year-old Jerry Ladd was driving his car east on Bigelow when he stopped at the intersection. He then pulled forward and hit a car driven by 20-year-old Curt Laytart of Findlay. Hanco EMS took Laytart to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.

It appears one of the restaurant wishes of many Findlay residents may come true. The Courier reports Chic-Fil-A may have plans for a location at 1931 Tiffin Avenue. That’s the lot between the McDonald’s and Panera Bread in that area.
The company is asking the Findlay Board of Zoning Appeals for permission to build a pylon sign there instead of a low-profile sign. The zoning appeals board will consider the request on October 12 or October 19.

The Findlay Police Department has released the names of the men involved in a stabbing in the Planet Fitness parking lot on Sunday. Lt. Robert Ring says 41-year-old Jason Turner of Findlay received treatment for a stab wound at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He is still getting treatment, but investigators expect him to fully recover.
A release says 32-year-old Michael Smith of Findlay was also involved in the incident. He took himself to the hospital for treatment.
Police have not made any arrests. Investigators are looking into what led up to the stabbing. Once the investigation is over they will turn the information over to the Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office.

9/27/17 – 5:04 A.M.
Findlay police officers had a busy Tuesday night, dealing with a robbery and an attempted robbery. The first incident happened at Lucky’s Carry Out at 221 Crystal Avenue around 6:15 p.m. Police say a man with a handgun demanded money, hit a woman in the head with the gun, and threw her to the ground. He took cash and ran out of the business. The woman suffered minor injuries.
Then around 8:30 p.m. a man walked into the Subway restaurant at 1932 Tiffin Avenue and claimed he had a gun. An employee on duty apparently didn’t believe the suspect and threatened to call 911. The man ran out of the business without any money.
Police haven’t released descriptions of the suspects. They do not know if there is a connection between the two events.

Efforts to grow the local workforce are focusing on ways to show young Hancock County residents the opportunities that exist close to home. Pam Hamlin is with the Millstream Career Center and says sometimes kids don’t realize what’s in their backyard…

Millstream Career Center is part of the Raise the Bar Program. One focus of the raise the bar program is to grow the workforce as more people in the county become eligible for retirement.
