Fostoria Man Injured In Monday Crash

8/1/17 – 5:11 A.M.

A one-car crash injured a Fostoria man near West Independence Monday afternoon. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reports the crash happened on U.S. 224, just east of County Road 23 around 12:10 p.m.

63-year-old Craig Ford was driving a Jeep east on the highway when he approached a road closed sign at the intersection of Road 23. Ford drove around the sign, overcorrected, and went into a ditch. The Jeep rolled over once and ended up on its wheels.

Hanco Ambulance took Ford to Blanchard Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries. A 6-year-old in the vehicle wasn’t hurt. Deputies cited Ford for operating without reasonable control.

Hancock County To Have Two Obamacare Providers In 2018

8/1/17 – 5:04 A.M.

Hancock County will have two “Obamacare” insurance carriers in 2018. The Courier reports the state announced on Monday that Medical Mutual of Ohio and Molina Health Care of Ohio will offer plans to people not covered through their place of work.

Before Monday it appeared there wouldn’t be any companies offering plans in Hancock County through the health care marketplace. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the only provider right now. Earlier this summer the company announced it would no longer offer plans on the marketplace.

The Ohio Department of Insurance says five major Ohio health insurance providers have signed on to provide plans for 19 of the 20 Ohio counties that didn’t have any plans lined up for next year. Paulding County is the only county still looking for a provider.
