Police Chief Keith Loreno says the officer pulled over a car driven by 27-year-old Logan Parrish of Findlay. The officer found what he thought was a large amount of fentanyl in the back seat. He put on gloves to investigate but accidentally came into contact with the drug. The officer started showing signs of exposure to fentanyl, leading emergency responders to give him a dose of Narcan to reverse the symptoms. Fostoria Fire Division’s EMS squad then took the officer to the hospital for treatment.

Parrish faces a felonious drug possession charge, with more charges pending.

Investigators can’t confirm the substance found in the car was fentanyl until Ohio BCI test it. However, Parrish allegedly told officers he had fentanyl in the car. The opioid is 30 to 50 times more powerful than heroin.

Fostoria’s Financial Planning and Supervision Commission gave conditional approval for the loans on Wednesday.
