Pair Of Bomb Threats Reported In Wood County

6/1/17 – 6:44 A.M.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a pair of bomb threats. The Review-Times reports the latest incident happened around 11 a.m. in West Milgrove. Captain Terry James says deputies searched the village hall but didn’t find anything suspicious.

Someone made a similar threat at the Weston Public Library Tuesday. The threats had the same wording and came over a wireless printer or fax machine. They demand $25,000 in exchange for not detonating a bomb.

James says the FBI is investigating the incidents. Investigators believe the same group of people have made similar threats all across the nation.

Van Wert County Commissioner Running For 5th District Congress Seat

Fifth District Congressman Bob Latta will face a Republican challenger in next year’s primary election. Van Wert County Commissioner Todd Wolfrum announced his candidacy Wednesday. He is in his second term as a commissioner and is also a lawyer in Van Wert.

In a release, Wolfrum says, “I believe that conservatives in northwest Ohio and around the country have been largely betrayed by the Republicans we have sent to Washington.” He adds, “Even when Republicans have a distinct majority, they never pursue the agenda they promise.”

Toledo Corrections Employees Face Charges For Hancock County Campground Disturbance

6/1/17 – 5:27 A.M.

Authorities arrested two people at a Hancock County campground last weekend. The Blade reports 44-year-old Bryan James pointed a gun at campers at the Twin Lakes Park campground near Mount Cory. He also allegedly fired the weapon while intoxicated and entered another camper while looking for his son, who was at another campsite. The newspaper reports 46-year-old Ricci Nolen allegedly lied to deputies about her role in the incident.

Both are Toledo corrections employees.

James faces aggravated burglary, felonious assault and using a weapon while intoxicated charges. Authorities charged Nolen with obstructing official business.

Hancock County Grand Jury Indicts Deshler Man On Abduction Charge

The Hancock County grand jury has handed up an indictment against a Deshler man accused of kidnapping his girlfriend. The Courier reports 30-year-old Joseph Burns now faces a felony abduction charge.

A Hancock County Sheriff’s Office report says Burns held a woman against her will in his car while he drove around the area last weekend. The woman was able to text a family member to let them know what was happening. She later told investigators that Burns had, “threatened to kill them both.” She also said Burns hit her in the head.

Findlay Man Sentenced For Selling Drugs Used In Fatal Overdose

6/1/17 – 5:08 A.M.

A Findlay man will spend seven years in prison for providing the drugs that led to a fatal overdose in Liberty Township last year. The Courier reports Judge Reginald Routson sentenced 28-year-old Nathan Brown on charges of involuntary manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs.

Brown sold heroin laced with fentanyl to 24-year-old Jarrod Barger in January of 2016. He faced up to 11 years in prison. He’ll also have to pay nearly $10,000 in restitution.

The case marked the first time a Hancock County jury convicted someone for involuntary manslaughter in a case involving a fatal overdose.
