Fostoria Teen To Be Tried As An Adult In Murder Case

The Seneca County grand jury has indicted a teenager accused in a fatal stabbing. A post on the Fostoria Police Department’s Facebook page says Christian Brown faces a first-degree murder charge. Brown was 17-years-old when he allegedly killed 18-year-old D’Andre Gehring in the parking lot of the Fostoria Townhouses in January.

Authorities initially charged Brown in the juvenile court system.

18-year-old Arlando Crowe Jr. of Fostoria also faced charges in the case. He pleaded guilty to obstructing justice in May. A judge sentenced him to 30 months in prison.

UPDATE: Fostoria Shooting Remains Under Investigation

Update – 5:57 A.M.

Fostoria police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting. The Courier reports the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. in an alley between Tiffin and South Streets, near the 200 block of Poplar Street.

Fostoria Fire Division EMS took the victim to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital for treatment. Emergency responders called for a medical helicopter to meet them at the hospital.

Media partner WTOL 11 reports the shooter is also receiving medical treatment for injuries suffered during the altercation.

The incident remains under investigation. Officials haven’t released the name of the victim or his condition.

Bluffton Hires New Village Administrator

Bluffton Village Council has picked the village’s next administrator. The Courier reports council hired Jack Huber for the role this week. Huber has a bachelor’s degree in public administration and has worked in both the public and private sectors.

Huber takes the place of Jamie Mehaffie. Council fired Mehaffie in January at the recommendation of the Mayor Judy Augsburger. Officials didn’t publicly say why they made the move.

Two Findlay Men Facing Drug Charges

6/15/17 – 5:22 A.M.

Two Findlay men are facing drug charges. The Courier reports the Hancock County grand jury handed up the indictments Wednesday. 46-year-old Eric Brown faces two counts of trafficking in heroin and one count of trafficking in cocaine. He allegedly sold the drugs on June 6 of last year.

In a separate case, 33-year-old Cutler Batchelor faces one count of trafficking in cocaine. The alleged incident happened on July 11 of 2016.

ODOT Shifting I-75 Traffic Near Bluffton Next Two Nights

6/15/17 – 5:14 A.M.

Bridge repair work will close a section of I-75 near Bluffton for the next two nights. ODOT says crews will close the northbound lanes of the interstate under Bentley Road starting at 10 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. Friday. Workers will close the southbound lanes in the same area from 10 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday.

The construction plan uses the Bentley Road entrance and exit ramps to maintain I-75 traffic. Area drivers won’t be able to use the Bentley Road overpass to get over I-75 during the traffic change.

ODOT is replacing the bridge deck on the Bentley Road bridge.

Wood County Kicks Off Elder Abuse Awareness Compaign

An awareness campaign is underway in Wood County to combat a rising number of elder abuse reports. Adult Protective Services officials say a rapidly aging population is driving abuse investigations higher, especially in cases of seniors who suffer mental or physical problems. The campaign encourages loved ones to be proactive and make sure elderly relatives are okay. The community is being encouraged to wear purple today to support the elderly.

Delta Woman Dies In Fatal Car Accident

06/14/17 – 6:01 P.M.

A Fulton County crash killed a Delta woman and injured a Bloomdale woman Wednesday morning. The Courier reports that the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at Ohio 109 and Fulton County Road D. 31-year-old Jamie Cook of Bloomdale was heading east on Road D and failed to yield at the intersection with Ohio 109. She struck a car driven by 57-year-old Carol Barringer of Delta.

Both women went to the Fulton County Health Center. Barringer was pronounced dead around 8:30 a.m., Cook was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Gypsy Moth Mating Disruption Treatments To Start Next Week In Hancock County

06/14/17 – 3:17 P.M.

The Ohio Department of Agriculture will start aerial treatments to disrupt gypsy moth mating across the state. Brett Gates said that Hancock County will get the treatment soon.

Planes will deliver SPLAT GM-O which is a product that disrupts mating and doesn’t kill the moth. It is an organic product and is not harmful to birds, plants, pets, or humans.
